Many of us have a habit of sleeping with the cell phone, either under the pillow or somewhere in the bed. I usually play music on my cell while sleeping & many at- times I used to sleep & when I wake u somewhere in the early morning, I can see that the mobile is still playing the music.
There was this incident happened a boy in N.C, was sleeping & his bed catched fire because the battery of his Motorolla cell phone got over heated. Thanks to the dog that was with him as the dog pulled the phone from the bed. The flames was beaten out but the boy suffered burns in his hands. There were many incidents reported across the world about cell phone catching fire, either because of over heating or because of defective batteries.
I was surprised to hear this & it was something hard to believe for me, but I still sleep with one under my pillow. So how many of you sleeps with the cell phones in bed?

Hello my friend
I think you should put the phone on something next to your bed if you really need to listen to the music, I never do this I se to listen to music on my phone as well, but not when I am going to sleep, o.k maybe once or twice now that I think of it, that was a long time ago, after reading this I will make sure I never do this again, how scary
Thanks for posting this my friend.
Please be careful.

Oh i do this! i usually put my cellphone under my pillow because i use it as an alarm clock.
Though i have heard several incidents and accidents regarding cellphone catching fire but i don't know why i wasn't alarmed.
Anyway, i'm a light sleeper and i'm sure i can easily be awaken just incase similar situation happens.
hmmm..but the bed sheets and pillows are a waste if it will be burned

and hey ya..be careful with your cellphone especially if we are buying accessories like extra battery or charger from unknown seller as there are many fake ones that we don't know and i think that is causing the disaster since it is not compatible to the product...

...hhmm did u star in Dhoom2 movie?

Eek don't tell me these things! My hubby sees nothing wrong with sleeping with his gadgets or even a power cord on the bed. I don't like the idea if it's a safety hazard for a small child why not an adult?

You don't have a cell phone! Most of the people do have cell phones & sometimes it won't be much of a concern if you don;t have one. However if you get a new boy friend, then I think you will badly need one.

Why would getting a new boyfriend/girlfriend be a reason to get a new cell phone? I don't understand the thinking here. If he or she can't date you unless you have a phone, then to heck with them; you don't need to be with him/her anyway.

Well It's not their need, but it will be our need because we might badly want to talk to our partner. If you get a nice guy, don't you feel link talking to him? So if you have call phone with you, then there will be more privacy & romance in the relation.

No I don't sleep with a cell phone in my bed. In fact I turn my cell phone off before I go to bed. I can't believe how dangerous the cell phone is. The other day I heard how not to have the phone plugged into the wall at the same time you are on the phone. That is very dangerous. I just think they are seriously dangerous and I'm getting rid of my phone come January when my contract is up. I also think they are dangerous to your head and ears when you are talking for a long period of time. This is scary stuff.

Well, I put it my cell phone on the drawer next to the bed. I use my cell as the alarm. It just keep singing and singing until I get up and shut it off.
I don't know that cell phona can be so dangerous. I know it's dangerous to use your cell phone when you fill the gas at the gas station or use your cell phone on the plane. Well, I should really get an alarm clock then. LOL

Many of us do put alarm on the phone because it's more convenient. Used call phones for around 6yrs now & never faced any such problems, but you can never say when something may happen.

Hi taztheone, this is enlightening piece! u know I let it charge the whole night on my bed, and everything out here is pretty inflammable, and I dont have any dog! LOL. But I do believe that some pieces may be defective so it is those few that do the damage. Or may be the problem occurs when the piece gets older. But then, does it not justify keeping it close at hand, as the smell and heat will invariably wake us up in time. If we were to leave it at desk then may be some sparks could turn out to be really bad. I hardly use it. :) That is why it is still around I guess. LOL.

Hi, nice to see your response. A study has shown that keeping the cell phone too close to the brain for a prolonged time can cause harm because of the radiation. So I always prefer to keep it a little far form my body.
Have a lovely time

I want to say i used to put my cellphone under my pillow without turn it off. But now i don't , i also put it under my pillow but with it turned off. I do it not because of the dear of it's blame but the harm to the people with it's radiation. I heard that the last radiation can harm people. It also exist when you don't make a phone. So just put you cellphone away from you when you sleep or just turn it off. Have a good day and happy mylot

I wonder why you are keeping it under the pillow if you are afraid of radiation & that too switched off. It's better to keep it on silent mode & keep it on the nearby table.

WOW, I'm glad I never do this. I know people who sleep with their phones because they use the alarm, but I always use a clock radio for that and charge my phone at night. I had a Motorola for two years; I'm glad I never slept with it! I still have it, but now it's in a drawer and I don't think it's even charged, frankly. I got a new Blackberry this month, but I don't sleep with that, either!

Not only fire, but there can be a good amount of radiation that can be hitting your brains & continuous exposure can bring harm to the body. So even though I keep it under my pillow, I don't keep it exactly under my head nor the pillow my head rests. I would keep it at a distance.

Oh my! I didn't know this. I am like this. I place my Motorola phone under my pillow. I do it because I use the alsrm in my phone. I can't hear any sound if I place it on my side table, that's why I place it under my pillow.

I think many of us keep it under the pillow for alarm. But Alarm has a good feature of not stopping to ring unless we stop it.

Well, I must confess that I sleep with my cell phone under my pillow too, I took my cell phone with me everywhere I go (even on the shower) and never turn it off, not even for charging the battery.. this sounds weird but didn't know about cell phones on fire hahaa maybe I should be a little bit more careful with this.

You take it even while bathing! Careful no to get it wet. Once my friend took his phone along for bathing & his girlfriend called him in between & while he tried to answer, the phone got wet & got damaged & there goes $250.

I usually out my cellular phone on my dresser near the bed when I am about to sleep. That way, I can hear when someone calls me which might be an emergency. But I do not sleep with my phone on my illow. I have heard that cellular signals may cause damage to our body and brain. I am not sure if this is true but better to be safe than sorry.

I have mine close to the bed - either on the bedside cupboard or lying on top of my bag beside the bed incase there is any family emergency during the night but I've only fallen asleep with it in the bed once or twice - that's when I've been having text conversations and the responses stopped.

It's very true that we might receive a call at any time & it's always better to keep the cell near the bed. However I hate the idea of someone waking me up from deep sleep. So I always put my cell on Silent mode.
