After breaking the bank to bring in a "batallion" of world class players this current season, many are wondering how far Real Madrid will go. One feels that Real Madrid is not only trying to turn around the disappointments of the past few years but the team, I believe, wants to win not only the Spanish La Liga but equally add the UEFA Champions league trophy. We know that the Madrid giants are nine-time winners of the prestigeous UEFA Champions League trophy.
How far will Real Madrid go this season? Do you see the team lifting the UEFA Champions League trophy come 2010? Please share your views.

Hi emmanola,
Real Madrid might bought a lot of good players to Bernabau this season but that doesn't mean they will win every trophy available. Their players need to get understand their team mates type of play and need to adjust their rhythm/tempo so they can play as a unit. Other teams with not many player in and out will not have any problem with this.
They might have a good chance in Spain because the only team that can give them a problems is Barcelona. But in UEFA Champion League, there are a few team that capable to win it this year especially teams from English Premier League and Inter Milan.
Real Madrid might doesn't have any problem to go to the next stage in UEFA Champion League but they might have a problem at the knock out stages. They definitely try to avoid the English team because they learn their lesson last year when they are beaten heavily in Anfield. They must pray to have an easy path (draw) to the final.

having a good players doesn't mean that victory is asured, the style play of real madrid is the same crap that the other past years, and this year, for the moment, he only has played with crappy teams, the only decent team was villaread and then appeared the referee to help inventing a red card and a penalty agains villareal.
And for what i've seen of FC barcelona, the only way to beat them is make a barrier of 9 players and wait for catch some counter-attack, otherwise you can get 5 goals against, as we saw in the barça-atletico de madrid, but with this way you run the risk that iniesta apperars and make you a goal on the 93th minute XDD

i have a doubt madrid win champions league this season. the new player need time to adapt with madrid environment like KAKA, ronaldo, alonso and their coach Pellegrini. and the second the player need time to understand each other.it wil be important in football. i think my favourite in champions league this season is always Barcelona or Liverpool. both of the team had a good records in champions league, good management in champions league and off course good mentality in champions league. Madrid had too long had no good mentality in champions league

For now it seems most soccer analysts believe Real Madrid's chance of success in the UEFA Champions League is 50:50. We can't afford to write off the team, the quality of players is great and we can't afford to over-rate the team at the same time; the team has failed miserably in the past (even with players in the mold of the one presently in the team).

I Think Madrid and Barcelona are in the front to lifting 2010 Champions League Trophy. MAn Utd came next with Chelsea came third. i think if Madrid play consistent like this opening season, it's probably impossible to stop them. Their have a lot of super star quality player in their team

I wish I can agree with you but I have my doubts. I have this feeling that none of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United and Chelsea may lift the UEFA Champions League trophy in 2010. It's true that those teams seem to have the best of quality players, but winning takes much more than having on the pitch "the best" players.

Well spending millions on Champions League experienced player in Ronaldo, Alonso and Kaka, perhaps could go one better than last season. At least must reach semi final, but fans would love to see the team winning it.
