Do you prefer to knit or crochet?

There are tons of beautiful knitting patterns out there which can't be matched by crochet, especially for garments. I can do both, but somehow I prefer crochet as I find it easier to handle - a lot less worry about dropping stitches for one! However I have a friend who prefers knitting as she finds it extremely hard to maintain a constant yarn tension whenever she crochets. Which do you prefer? Knitting or crocheting?

I prefer knitting for garments but I prefer crocheting because it's faster. Right now, I am mostly knitting because I am making mittens for Christmas presents.

Both Knitting and Crochet have beautiful patterns and styles but I have only been taught to crochet maybe I will pick up knitting if I can ever get off of this super awesome website lol!! Have a great day!

I prefer to crochet because I don't know how to knit. I have the same problem your friend does about the tension. I have yet to master that part of it. I know only two stitches for crochet and it is hard for me to learn new things so I am anxious about learning how to knit. But I think that it is something that I will definitely try to learn in the future.

I can knit and crochet. There are so many patterns and yarns so choose from that it is hard to decide what to do first. I find that crocheting goes much faster, so I do more projects in crochet. But, I love to knit. I always have something on my needles. While knitting takes longer for me, I don't mind the time. I find it relaxing and rewarding. I have never tried socks or mittens but have done a lot of sweaters.

My grandmother taught me many crafts and of them all I seem to prefer knitting. I will agree that there is less to worry about with crocheting such as dropping stitches and such, however, I like the look of knitted items much better. There seems to be more variety in the stitches you can incorporate into your work as well.

Once upon a time I would have said knitting because it was easy for me to learn in the beginning and everything was a knit or a purl but recently I decided to give crochet a try again and it is quick and easy. It also helps that I can understand the patterns better now.
