When was the last time you watched a flick in the movie theaters with your Mom?
What movie was it? Where did you go afterwards and what did you do?
I knew my Mom wanted to watch the movie "In My Life". I thought she was going to watch alone until she asked me yesterday if I wanted to watch. Frankly, I didnt have plans to see it but I decided to accompany her.^_^
The movie was very dramatic that I think most of the movie-goers were shedding tears but trying to be discreet about it. I also noticed that most of the movie watchers were actually mothers who brought along their children.
So how about you guys? Thanks for sharing.

Well, last time which was a very long time ago, wasn't just me and my mom. We also had my dad with me and I think we watched that Indiana Jones movie, the fourth one.. Crystal Skull I think.. Can't remember any movie that I went to with just my mom.. I could recall some movies that I alone went to because my other brothers and sisters wanted to watch a different movie. My mom would just go along with my dad and he would usually be the one who would suggest the movie watching. There have been so many movies that I need to watch.. (-_-")

Last Christmas my brother, his girlfriend and his grown daughter, my sister, my mom and I all went to see Marley and Me. After it was over, we all went to our various homes. Before that the previous movie I took my mom to was The DaVinci Code with my roomie. And a while before that the family took mom to see one of the early Harry Potter movies - I think.
My mom is very disabled because of strokes, so she has a lot of trouble being gotten out of the place she lives in.

I've been trying to get my mom to go and watch movies with me for ages, but to no avail. She's one hard to get lady for sure, LOL.................... Actually, she doesn't really like to watch movies that much. She prefers watching DVDs and stuff like that. So no choice..

Hi there my dear friend.
Well i remember both movies i have been at with my mom - 101 dalmatians and "From Jungle to Jungle" - both from Disney.
Back then we didn't had the malls, or they were really unpopular to go to, so we went to the neighborhood cinema and it was great nevertheless.
I wish i had taken her to see 2 movies more recently that i just loved:
Enchanted and A night at the museum - in my honest opinion these 2 are some of the most special movies in the last years.

From Jungle to Jungle? Im not familiar with that Disney movie..
Anyway, it's nice that you still remember those movies that you saw with your Mom considering that maybe it was more than 10 years ago..? Its always great to think of such memories.
Maybe you can invite your Mom to go watch a movie with you. There may be some good releases this Christmas.

Over Labor Day weekend my mom and I went to see Julie and Julia. After the movie I think we did a little shopping and came home. Nothing too exciting. It was kind of weird because it's kind of a chick movie and those are generally more her style than mine but I think I liked it more than she did.

"Julie and Julia"... that title sounds familiar but I cant picture what the story was about. Anyway, I know what you mean by watching a chick movie with your Mom, it can definitely be weird and awkward, but then again there are those few chick movies that you'd never thought you'd like,..even if you watched it with your Mom. Thanks for sharing!^_^

It's "based on two true stories." Julie Powell was (is) a call-center operator working for an insurance company in New York right after 9/11 and she gets this idea to spend a year cooking her way through Julia Childs' first (and possibly most famous) cook book, and blog about it. So the movie is based on her story writing the blog and on Julia Childs' memoirs.

I don't remember. I think it was transformers. I didn't actually see the whole movie because I had to keep running back and forth to the bathroom since I had a urinary tract infection. My mom and I used to go to the movies all the time when I was living at home. I lived at home until I was 25. Now we only go to the movies when I go home for the holidays since I live in another state.

The last time I saw a movie with my Mom was in July. Actually several of us went. My Mom, myself, my two oldest sons, my girlfriend and my step daughter. We had all wanted to see the movie so I got a sitter for my youngest son and we made a morning of it. It was fun to get out together.

Hi bjcyrix!
I could not remember anymore when was the last time we have watched a movie together. Due to her advanced age, my mom does not want anymore to watch in a movie theater and mostly prefer to watched telenovelas in the home instead.
But there's always one place that we both go together, in a casino. You know just like the other elderly people, my mom loves to play the slot machines in the casino. She will spend time (and money too) playing that electronic games.
This coming October, she will once again come home for a vacation and I know that we will spend time again in her favorite visiting place, the casino.
Have a nice day!

Heya tholitz^_^ How are you?
Casinos! That's a very unusual hobby for your Mom. I mean most people in the elder generation here in our country would seem to prefer Bingo. But yeah, there are also those who are fond of MahJong like my Mom and her friends.LOL She has stopped though and has been more focused on her business.
Anyway, you mentioned your Mom is coming "home for a vacation". May I ask where she's coming from?
Have a great week.

The last time my sister and I took our mum to the movies it was to see ‘Titanic’ so it was quite a long time ago! What amazed me was that when the film finished and the lights came on my sister and I had red bloodshot eyes from crying whereas mum was totally unaffected by the whole thing although she said she enjoyed it!
The time before that my partner and I took her to see ‘The Omen’, she absolutely loved that one...Go figure...

LOL What a coincidence. I mean, before this last movie that I mentioned. The very last time that I watched a movie with my Mom on theaters is also Titanic. I was very young then and she brought me along. And there are some scenes in the movie not suitable for a child, right? I remember my Mom covering my eyes with her hands during those sensitive scenes.
As for the your Mom's reaction to the two movies, I think she and I will get along great.LOL I love horror movies and I dont get teary eyed that easily.
Thanks so much for sharing!

Hi bicyrix, my son and I are huge fans of movie. We like to watch movie together with me in the cinema. But it’s rather sad that after he works in another state, he rarely visit to cinema with me again. My husband is too health conscious and dislikes watching movies in cinema since the flu A spreading So we mostly watch DVD at home. What’s more it’s quite inconvenient for us to take an hour drive to watch movie in the nearby town. Theaters are available in the shopping mall here only since two years back. Therefore we can enjoy watching movies we are interested at anytime
Anyway my son still likes to invite me to accompany him to watch movie whenever he is back to hometown. The last movie we had watched in theater was X-Men Origins, Wolverine. I couldn’t remember the right date we went for it. I think it’s mostly in the mid of the year. I son will back to hometown the coming week to celebrate Chinese New Year. I’m so happy that we will have more sweet time to watch cinema movies later.
Take care and happy posting

Well, its a long time since i last went to a movie show with my mom. Infact it would date back to years, when i was a kid, when i accompanied her to a theatre. The movie was a hit in my place and was of my native language. My dad was also with us. We had great time and fun. Since, then there has been little opportunities owing to the busy life. Sometimes, i have spare time but she doesn't and vice versa. But i wonder if those times will be back again.
have a great day.

hello bjcyrix,
wow, that's nice to spend time with your mom. I've heard that Vilma Santos is indeed back in Show-biz. that's good too since she's been away to politics most of the time. My mom did watch that movie with her friend, frankly i don't watch movies in theater anymore. she had a great watch with that movie.

Yep, it sure is. Its also nice that the actor and actress in the movie, namely Luis Manzano and Vilma Santos are actually mother and son. It's indeed great to see her acting again.
Ah, you're Mom enjoyed the movie as well. Its okay that you dont watch in theaters anymore, I only get to watch it whenever my high school friends decide to get together. Thanks for the response.^_^

Unfortunately I have never had the pleasure of being able to watch a movie with my mom in a movie theater. My mom is hard of hearing, actually she is legally deaf, but she can hear with hearing-aids. The hearing-aids make it very difficult to distinguish different sounds and noises, especially background noises from people talking, so all she would have been able to hear in a movie theater especially would be a jumble of confusing sounds. Fortunately, recent advances in technology have made it possible for the hearing-aids to better filter out background noise from people's voices, so she has been able to go to the movie theater and watch a few movies with my dad. This has only happened since they moved away, though, so I am still not able to watch movies with my mom, but at least she has been able to see them herself. She was very impressed with how they were in the cinema, by the way.

but today i feel a bit uncomfortable watching movies with family due to some odd scenes in them.

We watch movies together (me & my mom) at our couch, probably every night. My mom is really not fond of watching movies at the theatres. That's why, we just watch movies at home.
