as of now the death rate from the typhoon Ondoy has increased rapidly. still our natural disaster coordinating council are doing there best to rescue the stranded people and hopefully give help to people who are still on the roof top of their houses that they will be given the right nourishments as well. because as of this moment it is already night time and its the 2nd day from the typhoon catastrophe. still people are lost and many are still missing while others are found dead. this happened yesterday 09/26/2009 when typhoon Ondoy hit Philippines area of responsibility. ad because of its hgih winds and much rain down fall. the flash floods are not expected from all the residents of mostly in some of Luzons cities and places, which are manila, pasay, rizal, mandaluyong. its has become a nightmare and many people got stranded because the flod went upto the ceiling of their houses. by now many people are still rescuing others and finding ways how. some are hungry, do not have the right shelter, and not enough pump boat for rescuing. some arehelping each other out but others are still have not yet food for their family to eat. hope this disaster would be fine soon. well there is always hope and we just have to have faith. still the operations are on going and i just hope that soon this would end. and everything would be fine again. jhelai

yea i also here that. Many of our countrymen are suffering. But it also theyre punishment for not treating our national treasure well. and i believe that the location of the philippines is near to the place where typhoons and other storms form. Its pretty sad that this is happening its like nightmare, everywhere is flooded and you will see calamities anywhere you look at. I hope this calamity will halt soon.

What happened in our country is really really sad.. Nobody really saw it coming. I mean I thought it was just a tropical storm.. but the heavy rains brought so much disaster to the city.. Our house in San Pedro, Laguna also got flooded, but thank goodness it subsided after a couple of hours, and it's only around a foot or so inside the house.. I really don't know what would I do if I were in Marikina, or Pasig or Antipolo.. It's really horifying... I just hope that everyone would be okay and safe soon. Let's just pray for all those who were affected by the storm.

I hope that it will be over soon. Many people are suffering. I can see in the news that until now many people are still stranded and many have no food to eat or water to drink. The government and other agencies are trying their best but considering the situation, I do not know if they will be able to provide help to everyone. Gladly there are those that has offered donations and there are those that have offered their services. Times like these will surely bring out the Filipinos heart for volunteerism and heroism. I do pray that everything will be fine soon.

It's like a whirlwind.. everything goes in a snap. It rained for one whole day then there goes the flood. The sun didn't show up for almost two days. It was a scary experience. I thank God we live in a safer place... I can't imagine what's happening in other places. I hope and pray that there would be no more casualties in the entire Luzon area. I want to take this chance to ask you guys... please pray for the typhoon victims... A lot of people are still not rescued in some areas. Rubber boats are badly needed. Please... if you can afford to extend some help, take this chance.

I am so sorry to hear this. The Philippines is really unlucky in this sense. It seems that it is always in the typhoon path. There is never a year without typhoons or any other calamity for that matter. I hope the stranded ones get rescued soon and that the casualty figure will not be too high. Lots of luck to everyone and God bless.

We appreciate your concern. It was really so sad that we are always part of different calamities. The sad thing here is that the people here in our country do not know how to take good care of the environment that is why we are suffering from this. If this will continue to happens, there is a big possibility that philippines will be erase in the map. For the first time in my life, i have swim in the road.

yes i know because we are near the pacific ocean and it is where mostly lots of low pressure may airse becaus eof the pressures that may come from the sea and the temperature. well its hard to explain but i do hope that they can rescue those people who are strnaded from the rooftops of thier houses. they still do not have food to eat and water to drink. what would happen then if they cannot be rescued? another problem. God may always be with them as always. let us just pray for them all. jhelai

oh dear! really rberon? oh such shame. because most of the people do not really knwo how to give importance to the environment that is why now its the environments time to speak up what is in its mind. we do not know how to value and do not take good care to the environment. hope we could be aware and take this as a lesson to learn. jhelai

I am thankful that we are in no way directly affected by this disaster. We only had no power, water and phone (cellphone or regular landline) for forty-eight hours. It is only an inconvenience, but I am still lucky. One problem that I am facing right now is that we are in a way isolated because it is hard to go to the supermarkets because we have to pass through the entire Marikina area that has been hard hit by the storm.

this typhoon was one of the worst that hit us because metro manila was the center of its path. a lot has suffered and a lot are still missing. it is good that people are willing to donate and volunteer, i hope after this calamity, people would be serious in environment conservation and start planting more trees in the mountains near manila.

Yes that's true. One of the leading cause of this calamity is the lack of trees in the environment surrounding the area. Trees and plants are very important because they absorb water. So start planting trees as early as now and also those not affected. Let this be a lesson to everyone. BTW, the garbages also added damage to this. Don't throw our trash everywhere. Be disciplined.

Hi jhelaichie, I guess this time of sadness and downs are true Filipino kindness and cared for others are shown.. Here, in cebu.. All sectors are finding ways on how to share some relief goods to our fellow-Filipinos which are in metro manila and luzon.. Our company, are having some donations boxes for clothes, canned goods, rice and any type of help will do, as long as for the benefit of the calamity victims. I am really worried especially to my friends and my relatives at Metro Manila.. I really they are ok now... I have contact with some of my friends, but still i cannot my nephew and uncle.. I really hope they are ok!.. I hope this will be the last typhoon that will hit the Philippines..Let us pray that our fellow-Filipinos can recovered and built their houses with the help of our government..

Hi jheLaichie! This is so terrible! Please know that I will be praying for youall and I hope, too, that everything will soon be fine. I just can't imagine what it would be like not to have any food or shelter. There have been times in my life when I couldn't afford to go to the grocery store! I got a Walmart credit card in case this should ever happen again, though. It's scary to think about water going all the way to the ceiling! I'm glad to know that there are some helping each other out at least. Kathy.

i pitied those people so much, i hate seeing the news on tv because it's hard to see those people suffering from floods. I just hope the government would help them evacuate into a better place where there's no flood, especially those families that has little children.

well i guess our government is doing the best they can for all the families and their children to be evacuated to a safe place for them to have food and somewhat a nicer place to stay in. its hard having this kind of calamities but its nice to see when people help each other out. those who can help by giving foods, clothing, medicines are already donating to give to the people who needed it most. and still we are blessed that we are not part of the cataastrophe. let us just pray and hope that everything would be fine again soon. jhelai

God bless us friend and thanks! what we can do for the very moment is to pray for our countrymen and pray that nothing like this would happen again. that we can learn from this lessons of life and give more value for our environment and know how to deal with waste management and on what may be the effects if we do not love the place we live in. jhelai

hi, I'm from cebu and I felt very sad when I learned what happen to Luzon especially Manila. And Cebuanos like me also wants to help even in our own little way. May our donations help lessen the burden that those affected people are feeling right now. You'll be in my prayers.

I think the Philippines should have a National Calamity Council to oversee such natural disasters. This is a huge, huge problem. The whole city of Manila is now rendered immobile. Search and rescue missions using the armed forces, the Fire and Rescue Services, the para military forces and volunteer organizations should have been quick on the double to mobilize resources to go on quick rescue missions. A control center to direct operations that will give timely orders must be in place to ensure lives are saved first before the salvaging of property can be conducted. As always, law and order must be enforced! I think the number of deaths can be minimized if we have right thinking people in positions of power. Sadly, in most countries, they are not.

Natural disaster is really scary and will victimize innocent people no matter what your status in life is. Many had been killed by natural disaster anywhere in the world and the Philippines is just but a part of the typhoon path. I can't imagine that this typhoon hit the Philippines big time. Cars and and closets according to testimonies by affected people were floating because of too much flood. I have seen news where people were stranded and some are still missing. My heart goes out to the families who lost loved ones in this tragic event. I hope people will recover easily and get their life going.
