When did you get your first date?

I'm a girl in highschool, and I haven't got a date yet. Unless if I count the time when I was in grade 6, and a boy confessed to me that he liked me, and during recess, we secretly when to the very back of the school and just... chatted:D That was just a really cute and innocent experience.
My parents are really strict about dating, and they don't let me date until I graduate from highschool. But some of my classmates started dating from elementary school, and I know one who started in grade 8 and dated the same person until grade 10. Wow.
So, when did you get your first ever date? In highschool? Before highschool? Did anyone, such as your parents, prevent you from dating at any point of your life?

I was like 14 when I got my first date, it sucked though! It was my first boyfriend who ended up breaking up with me after a month TO GO OUT WITH MY BEST FRIEND and they've been together for 3 years. Amazing how things turn out huh? I guess its for the better though. Everything happens for a reason. Maybe you haven't gotten a date yet because theres not a guy out there thats ready for what you have to offer and it'll save you from heartache I'm sure because its hard to find any decent guys anymore. I wouldn't worry too much about the whole dating thing though. My parents always tried to prevent me from dating because I was a dumb kid and dated all the older guys and tried to be cool and I hate to say it but my parents were right! LOL most of them are only after one thing!!! but I always went behind their back when they didnt let me do something until finally they gave up. BAD IDEA! It got me into some troubling situations. I don't necessarily regret my life, but I know that I wouldn't want my daughter to do half of the things I did! LOL. Good luck on the dating thing! Focus on school! All the hot guys are in college =] and they end up making good money if they graduate haha so if you don't get to date now don't get discouraged cause when you focus on school and go to college you'll find some hot frat boy or something that ends up making like 100 an hour and then you'll have a rich hot husband haha!

My parents (at least my dad) was very strict about dating. He never told me when I was allowed to date, but he didn't even like me talking on the phone with any guys!! I knew girls who dated wayyyyy before I ever did!
In 10th or 11th grade, I met some new friends (a new clique). One gal had this guy friend . . . and all I did was mention that I thought he was cute. Next thing I knew, that day, they set me up on a lunch date with him. AHHHHHHHHH - I was NOT ready for that . . . but knowing that it'd be during school lunch, my parents would never know about it. We walked off campus (it was allowed back then) and we went to lunch at a doughnut shop around the corner. I was so quiet the entire time because I was just in shock about the whole thing - I didn't know him or anything which made it worse. That's totally NOT how I envisioned my "first" date to be . . . but that's how it was.

I once thought you're from China after reading your discussion, because I'm living in China, in my opinion, being strict in children's dates is Chinese parents' trait. But it's clear I was wrong, you're from Canada, there are a great number of Asian living in Canada, maybe we can find something in common. Now let's go back to the subject we were discussing. My first date happened after entering the college, most of my friends had the same experience after they were living far away from their parents, I have said it's a tradition. I'm one year older than my girlfriend, we fell in love on the National Day when I assisted my teacher to sort out the documents, and until now, we still stay together, we have set up the habit of enjoying such a relationship, I'll feel uncomfortable if I don't see her smiles at the beginning of every day. I'm a happy boy now, so I hope you would reap a romance too, after all, it can change you a lot and make you mature and considerate.

I don't know if you are familiar with Chinese culture, maybe your parents have Chinese culture background, so they are really strict about your first dating. In China, all the parents hope their children can focus all their attention on their school work, don't want their children to make boyfriend or girlfriend utill they grow up or have gratuated from college...
but now China has affected more by western culture, and it also has many students begin their first date in high or senior high shool even in elmentary school, but I really don't agree with, I also think they should learn more knowledges during this time,,,,Good luck and thanks

I don't think it's a date. I can't remember I had one Well, all those things are part of my subconscious.I am looking forward for partner to come home and expecting that our first date will be as romantic as fairytale that I will cherish for life. It may be simple but yet romantic as ever.

If your excuse to date is to "fit in" with everyone else, don't :S
