Where do you buy your pet supplies?

Before we had all of those specialty pet stores popping up we had to buy our pet supplies at terribly cramped mall pet stores or we had to buy our supplies from grocery stores. Now, we have the option of driving to a specialty chain superstore or ordering online. So I'm curious, what do you do?
I've bought stuff online before and I've also bought stuff from the specialty stores. I enjoy shopping both ways though because online I can get more stuff than I can in stores, and stores always have an endless supply of everything my pets love and use frequently.
So, online? A store? Or are you frugal and make your own toys?

I buy my pet supplies at my local stores. I did order cat food once on-line and the shipping rate was ridiculously high...with the amount of money I spent on shipping I could have gotten more kitty food, so have never bothered ordering on-line again

I've gotten one cat tree at either Pet Co or Petsmart and the other at Armarkat http://www.armarkat.com/ the one from the store might be just a tad steadier, but they are both excellent.
the Armarkat was a good bit less then the other, but they don't sell on ebay anymore and you can't get the really inexpensive bids

I haven't had a pooch in so long, I think we would just buy them at a feed store or the grocery store. It seems like pet owners have become pet parents and we have to give our animals everything we would give a kid. It seems a little silly to me.

We usually just stock up at Walmart because it's cheap and easy but there are some things I would like to look online for. As for toys we're pretty frugal so we tend to make our own. Their favorite toy is actually those plastic straps that are used to bind boxes. They go CRAZY for those!

well I used to buy my pet food at the supermarket or at walmart.
But therefore I have a ferret now I go to Petco to get my food and snacks for her.
I still buy toys and other things at other places.

My husband and I get what we can at the local groccery and department stores, and if there is something that we need that we can not find there, or if they have them but we want a different kind or brand, then we will find a specialty pet store. There is a vet clinic near here where we can get certain things if we need them.

It depends on what I get. Sometimes I go to a petstore like petsmart, other times I order the pet supplies online. When it comes to food I usually go to the store itself. And with my dogs, I get it at the feed store as the food I buy them isn't offered at places like petsmart.
Happy mylotting!

When my dog was alive I always bought her food at Walmart because it was least expensive there, but I would get her toys at Petsmart. Mostly because Walmart did not have a good selection and she liked the stuffed dolls that Petsmart had. We would also get her a big cow bone about once a week. We went to a store that sold food and things for farmers. That was the only place that sold the really good quality cow bones that didn't splinter, she really loved those.

I buy cat food at petfooddirect.com. Usually I find coupons that offset the shipping charges. I buy enough so that the percent off on the coupon is more than the shipping charges. It's hard to get Wellness canned cat food where I live. Now that we have a cat that will only eat dry food, it's easier to get good quality food at that site.

I buy most of them at walmart, as they are a lot more expensive at Petsmart. I do get a few things there, but very few. I get the dog food at walmart, as Petsmart doesn't carry the dog food I buy for them. I do buy them bones and rawhide, as they like those a lot and I have to replenish them every once in awhile. I don't buy a lot of dog treats as they aren't supposed to have all that many of those as it is harmful to them. I do, however, give them some treats, but not a lot, where they are eating coninuously during the day. I just let them chew on their bones or rawhide and that keeps them occupied. Take care and happy mylotting.

hello, highflyingxangel, good discussion!
Before I buy pet supplies in pet stores, but usually their price is higher, i think they need to set price higher because their operation fee is higher too. And later I would buy from walt-mart, since the quality of things in walt-mart is more garanteed. And I find my dog prefer dog foods from walt-mart than from pet stores. My dog is quite like the brand PURINA DOG CHOW~!
I never buy food from Internet for my dog, since I think that is unsafe, but I bough clothes for my dog from Internet, since there are more choice than stores, and the price is lower! by the way, my dog chew those clothes when he was younger, but now, he feels pretty good in clothese, haha...
