Which was worse? Ondoy/Ketsana or Milenyo/Xangsane?

Milenyo is from 3 years ago, around Sept 24-27 as well, with a Public Signal number 4 on it. The country was prepared for it in a way, since we were expecting this big storm coming to hit us. There was a lot of wind and also casualties. It recorded 197 deaths caused by Milenyo and close to 6 billion Philippine Pesos in damages or 118 USD in 2006.
Ondoy on the other hand, was reduced to Signal number 1, and I don't think we expected that much rainfall. But currently, we have over 110 deaths at the time I'm writing this, and over 50 reported missing and total damages is yet to be known. Ketsana dumped 455 mm of rain in Quezon City alone, compared to Hurricane Katrina's 250 mm (but I'm not comparing it with Katrina).
I personally think that Ondoy, which had a lot of rainfall, was worse because we were not prepared for it, compared to Milenyo which would probably be equally strong in terms of winds, which we were prepared beforehand for it. What's your opinion?

i think this is the worst we have experienced so far, thought the country did not experienced black out but then in just one day, several families have been submerged in flooded water, even 90% of the manila area is covered to rooftop of water, where people needed to be rescued.

The two is different but in my opinion Milenyo is worst than Ondoy. In milenyo we experienced strongest wind unlike to Ondoy it brought so much rain. What we experienced during Milenyo is worst we have no water and electricity for 1 week. We are not affected by Ondoy but to some this is the worst typhoon they experienced. Luzon is always hit by typhoons and PAG-ASA needs the modern equipments.

As far as I can see know, it has been 4 days since Ondoy left the Philippines but its effect has not yet ended. There are still flood on Marikina, Pasig, Rizal and other areas.
During Milenyo, it was the strong winds that did the damage and after it left the country and the damages are quite certain. But with Ondoy familes are still displaced in evacuation centers and damages still continue and problems still arise.
I had never seen the supermarkets with a lot of people buying essentials like water and food not only for themselves but also to give as donations.
I think almost everbody here in the Metro knows someone who lost a home, a car, appliances and unfortunately some love ones.
And up to this point help is still needed.
Hope the next typhoon (Peping i think) would change its direction and not make Luzon drown again.

For me in terms of devastation, Ondoy is much worse. I was able to walk the streets of EDSA after milenyo. But now I am isolated here in the mountains because I know it will be foolish to try to go to Manila to do some shopping.

The destruction of the two were very different from each other. The thing is that Milenyo brought in strong winds that destroyed infrastructures in Metro Manila. The worst thing that the storm created was the destruction of power lines that made the whole metropolis powerless for about a week or so. In Ondoy's case everbody was inundated by lots of water that flooded those that were not usually flooded places. The power was not damaged heavily in our place and was restored back as soon as the rains stopped. Both have destructive powers that were far more different from each other.

As far as I remember, only Ondoy makes Metro Manila get flooded like this. Im not sure with the statistics but Ondoy destroyed a lot compared to other hurricanes. Lets just hope that we will be prepared more than enough for destructions like these. Lets not forget to help the unfortunate ones and pray.

Yes for me Ondoy now is the worst. People never expected this to happen because what's on the victims' minds was it's just a typhoon. But flood in the other hand ruins almost everything.
