Hello Praveen, I never been to India. But I do wish I can go to India one day. It is glad that you promote your country here at Mylot! LOL. If I am first time to India, do you suggest me to come over by myself or you think it is better for me to join tour package where by everything is done arrange by travel agent. I know nothing about India, so I probably need a local guide to bring me around for the sight seeing... What is the main language in India? I like India culture. I like historical buildings. If it is in my budget, I would come to India next year! Happy Mylotting!

Hello Praveen, Thanks for everything here in the reply! I bet you must be a very good tour guide. . I will look out for you if I have the chance to visit India. I like China too. I have been to China a few times in different province. I only joined the tour package from the local travel agent here. This is group departure and everything get arranged by the agent. I find it is much more cheaper then I go all by ourselves. But of course don't get to have more freedom. Everyday have to wake up very morning , just hate the morning calls! LOL I think I can only spend 1 week for my holidays.. In fact it is the longest holiday I have before. I don't think I can cover all the nice place in India in just 1 week time.

I haven't yet been to India but I really would love to do so. India is meant to be vary good value. Some years ago a traveler could have 14 days in Japan or 6 7 days in India for $1000. I would like to begin my trip at the Taj Mahal and then visit a place where I could see wildlife. Lastly I would go to see Kerala's beaches and ride along its backwaters. India is a huge country, so flying in and then traveling by train is what I would do.

Nice to hear From u.. India is one of the best and its value for the money u spend.. less money but high value.. Taj Mahal is one of the best monument very build its soo huge and made with white marbles. people looks very small when we stand near that.. it got its own story!! it is located in Agra, built by by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal. it is a style that combines elements from Persian, Indian, and Islamic architectural styles. Building began around 1632 and was completed around 1653, and employed thousands of artisans and craftsmen. The Taj Mahal seen from the banks of river Yamuna. There are so many Wildlife Parks & sanctuaries.. u wont get much time to visit them all but its fun.. The region's rich and diverse wildlife is preserved in numerous national parks and wildlife sanctuaries across the country. Since India is home to a number of rare and threatened animal species, wildlife management in the country is essential to preserve these species. According to one study, India is home to about 60-70% of the world's biodiversity. So u get a chance to see those animals :) Oh Kerala they call it as "Gods Own Country" if u are in India dont miss the "Backwaters" and dont miss the Ride on the "House Boat" :) Yup true its good to go on Flight and Sight seeing few places through Train.. and it wont cost u much on traveling and exploring in India its all comes 40-60% low than the other country u visite.. So dont miss if u get a chance to visite :) i can be ur Tourist guide if u need any help !! Keep Posting!!

I went to India in 2001 with my husband and daughter. I went to the Taj Mahal and a few temples and a mosque. I can't really remember the other places that the guide brought us. I think they were mostly places to shop. Of all the places I've been to, India is by far the cheapest place to shop.

My first visit to India was in 1992 and I stayed 3 months. The second visit was in 1992 and I stayed for 6 months. Eventually, I found a job with an NGO which was based in Delhi. My husband (then boyfriend) was working there for 3 years which was why I stayed so long. You really have fantastic places to visit and so cheap at that time. I saw the Taj Mahal 2x, went to Rajasthan, Udaipur (the Lake Palace Hotel is unforgettable as well as the temple in Ranakpur), Jodhphur, Jaipur, the Golden Temple in Amritsar, Sikkim and Darjeeling (the sunrise over Kachenchunga on Tiger Hill was a sight to behold), Manali, the Bharatphur Bird Sanctuary and some other places whic I cannot recall anymore. I have not been all over India but I think I saw a lot and I'm very happy with that. I wasn't able to go south but would've loved seeing Kartakanaka and those islands (Nicoman and Andabar islands). How India must have changed since then. Do you still have the Nirula ice-cream at that little mall in Vasant Vihar in Delhi?

Yes, I have heard of Chennai/Madras and would love to see them. As to the when, I have no idea at all. We are bound by school holidays and my husband's leave is limited as well not to mention the costs of buying air tickets for 4 people. I will surely look you up should we ever go back to India. We have fond memories of India, my daughter even has an Indian name. That is how much we like India.
