sms's are becoming faster shorter and easy way to communicate.. my question at this point of time is that does SMS language (writing things short by how it sounds) hurts english language??
Recently the principal of our college commented that it hurts the ability of a person's skill in spelling words correctly than that to English language.
The person using SMS language, later won't be able to spell the word correctly in proper english later... what do u think??????

yes it hurts a lot when it it comes professional environment, people tend to use abbreviations in emails while communicating with the client which hampers a lot.

I do think that it does pose some hard to proper English for sure. I find myself typing out things in the shorthand "text" way because I text a lot and so it just comes out more naturally that way. I think it definitely would hurt someone who is trying to learn English as a second language because they would think that saying things the "text" way is proper, when it actually is not.
