Well it's a simple question. Should Amauri be playing for Italy? Dunga is still yet to name Amauri to the Brazilian squad, should Lippi pounce on the chance and help Italy gain a player who they clearly need. Italy are struggling offensively and the addition of Amauri may bring to the Italian national team what Luca Toni has failed to do for his country.

I think if Amauri want to play in 2010 South Africa World Cup, he should consider to choose Italy rather than Brazil. For me, personally, Lippi should call Amauri to secure Italy's chance to go 2010 World Cup. Because right now, Italy don't have any striker that hungry for goals. Tony already lost his touch and Rossi lack in experiences. Actually Lippi can call Antonio Cassano is he doesn't want to call Amauri

Yeah, when i look at Italian Squad now i think they need more striker option. Okay, now they in the top of Group 8 Europe Qualifier for 2010 World Cup. But they only face country with no well known players , such as Cyprus, Montenegro or Georgia and they only scored 8 from 5 matches. How about when they in World Cup ?? In World Cup they will face stronger such as Brazil, England, Spain etc ?? I think Amauri is still a best choice

Exactly my point, it's not that they have bad strikers on paper. They actually seem to have better striking options than many other countries, but all their strikers haven't delivered in the international stage. Therefore, Amauri is a feasible option at this stage.

Is this your idea or there really are rumours on this?
Because I really don't see why Italy would need Amauri. He's a good striker - I cheer for Juventus so I would know that - but to bring him to Squadra Azzurra... that would be too much...
Does he have Italian ancestry (like Camoranesi) or to bring him they need to grant him Italian citizenship? Because that would take some extra time...
Anyway, I really don't think it's the case. I mean, if Italy managed to win the World Cup, it means they already have enough quality players, and they don't need a Brazilian to score goals. Especially since that Brazilian is not even taken into account for the Brazilian team.

I would agree that Toni is the better player on paper, but he hasn't produced for Italy. He needs to be the goal scorer of the team and he hasn't been scoring. He's useless to Italy if he's not scoring.

Hi fallenjinx,
I don't see it as a good move. Italy have a few good Italian striker and they do not need any Brazilian to do the scoring tasks. They have Luca Toni, Gilardino, Iaquinta, DeRossi and Antonio Cassano. Italy should look their own citizen and if they start to look for others then it is not good for the football. They are the world champion.

I would agree that Italy have a decent selection of strikers, but they haven't been delivering for the national team. Toni is crap for Italy, Gilardino can't do it internationally, Iaquinta is just a poor man's Luca Toni, Pazzini is a forgotten man, Lippi is not interested in Cassano. So they don't exactly have a wealth of striking options. Lippi have shown interest in Amauri and there's a decent chance he may play for Italy, whether if that's fair it's another question.
