I am certainly not an expert on this subject. From what I understand, though, your rank in each topic or interest does not earn you anything extra. Your star rating, on the other hand, does have an effect on your earnings. Therefore, if you really like something that somebody says and think they added positively to a discussion, then you should rate them positively. On the other hand, if you merely disagree with what a person says, you should not rate them at all, since negatively rating someone just because you don't agree with them is against the TOS of myLot, probably because it does affect your earnings. You can, however, disagree with somebody and still rate them positively, if you feel that they have meaningfully contributed to the discussion.
