I need to make a Halloween list of good horror movies - something that would make me stay awake all night. It would be nice to see some movies that make you believe in supernatural, that really scare you but in a different way.Do you know some movies where you can feel that atmosphere of horror before anything really happens?Monsters make me laugh, actually. And too much blood is something I dislike about this genre.Do you know any movie that is different, but very good? Thanks in advance.

Most of the horror movies now are nothing but canvases painted with special effects. If you like that for an artform, fine...but the stories are pretty lame if you remove those special effects. I think some of the older horror movies are better because they encouraged your mind to work more, and implied horror is scarier because it gets your imagination going. Anything by Alfred Hitchcock is good, most notably The Birds. Also good is The Exorcist, The Boston Strangler, Rosemary's Baby and some of the early Friday the 13th movies. And, if you haven't seen Carrie, that's a good one too.

Carrie is good?I've just rented it!What a coincidence!
Oh,I just love Hitchcock,he's without a doubt one of the best directors in the cinema history.I watched only Vertigo,Strangers on the train and Rebecca. All of these were great.![](/Content/images/emotes/thumbup.gif)

If you like Hitchcock, you've got to check out The Birds (1963) and Psycho (1960).
Hope you like Carrie...I think that's the only movie I ever screamed at...lol. Stephon King wrote other good stories that have been turned into movies, The Shining, Cujo, Pet Cemetary are a few. Suspense is the real recipe for horror, more than the special effects. Carrie blends them pretty well, let me know what you think of it.
