What movies are for?

Most of us think that movies are for entertainment. They serve as stimulants for our dormant feelings. They are areas of our personal sublimation. We sublimate our angst and problems in life by spending so much time watching diverse movies---may they be horror, actions, drama, thriller, detective stories, and so on. But what what really movies are for?
Movies can be mirrors our lives. They show us our weaknesses. They inform us our dreams and aspirations in life. A horror movie, for instances, tells us what specific event we are afraid of experiencing. We fear something beyond our imagination. It is our fear of being alone. It is our fear of being harassed, threatened, and of being insulted at times. A movie ,whether you are entertained or not, speaks about your inner self!

I don't think amateur psychologizing about movies is going to go over too well on Mylot. But good luck with it, anyway.

You have a very interesting views on movies.
I had never think about this before. I just watch
and enjoy the movies. However what you mentioned do
make sense as it really depict our feelings, our
thoughts and our fears. How human reacts to such
situations... a the cast in the movie did!

Dear Boboy2,
You seems very good at psychology..
Perhaps you can share your views on my previous topics of
discussion on dreams, handwritings and signatures..
about 1-2 months back topics, thanks!
My son and I are movies goers. We can watch 4 movies in a row
in the cinemas. We enjoyed all movies except those extreme horror,
extreme violence and 'adult' movies as my son is below 13...
What you mentioned in your topic really make sense. All this movies
are from real life stories, real life experiences..the difference is
it is at time in the comedy, animation or adventure. But if you really
give a deep thought, it tis very true. However my son and I always look
at a movie from 'educational' point of views. We at times travel base on
the movies we watched. For example, we went to Sydney after watching
'Finding Nemo' and we went to Museum of Natural History, New York
after watching 'Night at the Museum'
Thanks and do keep in touch!
