Getting a truck driving job with a DUI

OK here goes, I have been a truck driver for 21 years and in 2006 I got a DUI on my motorcycle, now I'm not saying what I did was right , it was downright stupid and disrepspectful to the lives of many people. But.. I did pay my dues , I went to jail for 72 hours , Paid out thousands of dollars and lost my license for a year. Now insurance companies tell trucking companies they can't hire me. They get to say wheather or not I can feed my children, pay my bills or keep my home. Is this right? I'd like to hear from anyone else who has this problem( or had) and what you did about it or if you know anyone who will hire me ( sorry for the little advertisement there) Lets hear it drivers, what do ya think?
