Due to the disaster brought about by typhoon Ondoy, classes is suspended until Saturday, October 2, 2009. This will be a good time to clean up the mess brought about by the flooding. Kids should help in the cleaning.
MANILA, Philippines – (UPDATE 4) Classes in all levels in areas affected by storm "Ondoy" will remain suspended from Wednesday until Saturday, education officials announced Tuesday.
Education Secretary Jesli Lapus said there would be no classes in public and private elementary and high schools in the National Capital Region or Metro Manila this Wednesday.
Classes in the metropolis have been suspended since Monday due to the onslaught of storm "ondoy" over the weekend.
Kenneth Tirado, DepEd public information chief, said elementary and high school classes in Cavite province; Cainta, Rizal; and Sta. Rosa, Pami, Mabitac, and Calamba in Laguna would be suspended until Friday.
Emanuel Angeles of the Commission on Higher Education said there would be no classes in public and private colleges in the calamity areas until Saturday.
Lapus said on Tuesday the Department of Education decided to suspend classes in the metropolis for one more day to give way to relief efforts for victims of "Ondoy."He added that many of the public schools in NCR have been tapped as evacuation centers for close to 8,000 families.
In radio interviews Tuesday morning, Lapus said other stormn-hit provinces could decide on their own to keep the classes suspended for a few more days, depending on their situation.

I can't just imagine the extensive damage that Ondoy has brought and it was all so sudden. I have seen the news but I guess it would be most depressing seeing it for real. I pray that the time and resources will be enough to help out all those who are suffering and have been victims of this calamity especially the little ones.
Thanks for letting us know.
BTW I still haven't prepared the kids' school stuff and uniforms' still wet. And examinations, they were supposed to have this week , they haven't prepared for that yet. The kids have no idea about what happened, I tried to point out to them the news saying that they should be thankful that we weren't hit and we were not in that sad situation.

It was really tragic. If you were able to see the video in You Tube re: the cars being swept away in UERM. I was appalled when I saw it. I read or I must have heard somewhere that the rain that Ondoy gave is equivalent to 5 or 7 typhoons. I hope I am correct on this. Just imagine how massive the destruction Ondoy left us.

We are a strong people with brave hearts. Filipinos will make it through this.
We had to learn the bad way but it is during this time when we are reunited to carry one another and have the courage to start from nothing again. Easier said than done, but I still have faith in our people.
With all prayers, I know God allowed this to happen. To make us realize that we have to give priority to the intangible things no calamity can take away. Education. Faith. Hope. Values. Relationships.
As for our students,we can make use of the given time to try to help restore what can be and be there to support our families.
