Typhoon Ondoy's stop-over. I woke up to loud pounding on my windows. I realized it was that time of month when the skies cry on my beloved country. Indeed, even to the heavens, the Filipino people are a stable shoulder to cry on in times of despair. Still from a positive light, that's how I choose to see it. Even though at this point in time, lives are shattered, lives are in despair, lives are lost. Malls. Parks. Buildings. Corporations. Stores. Businesses. Villages. Vehicles. Homes. Lives. RUINED. Every effort of man to build anything and everything on earth goes back to nothing. God allows it. This should wake us up and remember the core priorities we must have in human life. Our faith, our relationships, our education, all the intangible things no calamity can steal from us. This made me realize that my life is but a piece of a bigger puzzle. But I choose to be a piece that will make the bigger puzzle whole. http://barbiejune.multiply.com - blog. What role do you play now, fellow Filipino?

Hi there Barbie June! I live here in Aklan and it didn't hit us as hard as it did in Manila. I was really scared because my loved ones live in Caloocan where it always flood when it rained hard. We have experienced a similar event when Typhoon Frank came to our province and we didn't have electricity for one month. It was really hard. I think that it did us good though because we were able to find happiness on simple things. It was like we went back to the basics and we had lots of quality time with the whole family. As for my role, I am studying to be able to make a difference in others people life in the best way that I can. I am studying to become a teacher in two years, if everything goes well.

Yes, that was also within this year if i'm not mistaken. It's good you recollected learnings we owe to our past. If our fellow Aklanons can share what they've gone through in a similar situation, people who are hit by Ondoy will be uplifted and inspired to start anew.
