In 1977, Film Maker Roman Polanski was arrested for drugging and raping a 13 year old girl. He plead "not guilty" then ran to Switzeraland to enjoy their non extradition policies.
Polanski was recently arrested in France and extradition is pending. But outrage from the film world is far from pending. According to his supporters, even though he hasn't spent a day in prison for the rape or fleeing justice, he has "suffered enough".
Really? What is suffering enough for drugging and raping a 13 year old? Is living in Switzerland so awful that it can be counted as "doing time" for child rape?
Polanski is a sick piece of work, but close behind him in being sick and wrong are those who defend him simply because he makes movies.
People don't believe me when I say that pedophilia will be accepted and defended in the not so distant future. However, once in a while we are given examples of how it already is.

I have been disgusted by the reactions coming from so many idiots who are so far removed from reality. Polanski has thumbed his nose at American justice for 30+ years and his crime is supposed to be overlooked now because of that? What a wonderful message that sends. If that man has been suffering then the last couple of decades of my life must have been total Hell because I sure haven't been living the lifestyle that he has. I sincerely hope he doesn't manage to wiggle out of serving his time.

hi para ted2k they have the wrong person who suffered,
'there, not Polanski but that poor little 13 year old'girl What is wrong with this world that they would say that creep
Polanski suffered enough? He should be locked up and the
key thrown away forever. You are so right,he is indeed'a sick'
piece of work, and I wonder if he will get away with it.'
So many child molesters do get away with it, as my own father, 'a supposed pillar of society got away with it, as nobody would'belive me that someone who was a doctor would ever'do'somnething so vile as molest his own daughter!!
Only once, but at seven that made my belief that my dad'was next to God a horrible travesty. I finally forgave him when I grew up and married, but thats something a molested child will never'forget really. sad that these things happen and go unpunished.

How does Polanski's supporters justify his actions in raping the child and fleeing prosecution? And what is their definition of suffering enough? How has he suffered for his crime? Do they think a rapist should not be punished? Or is it only their circle that should get away with raping a child?
Members of the entertainment industry have been allowed to get away with unacceptable behavior for years. Why has that been the case? Why are they above the law? Hollywood has lost any semblance of decent moral and/or ethical behavior. I, for one, have zero respect for that community.

They say that he's spent the last 30+ years being internally tortured by what he did. They say he's been under what amounts to house arrest in Switzerland. Both miss the point completely though.
Next time a celebrity gets on their high horse about how the rest of us don't care if we don't get involved, we'll just ask them if they cared about the 13 year old.

I have been shocked at all the support he has been getting from Hollywood. I mean this was a 13 year old girl. Rape is rape. And given her age and his age at the time of the crime it also makes him a pedophile.
He should have to go to jail for his crime. ANd all this support that being shown for him just shows you how twisted and sick some people are.
If this would have happened and the pervert had just been a normal joe....then everyone would be screaming for his head....but let it be a rich and powerful person and all of a sudden people take up for him.
Just because his wife and child were murdered does not mean he gets a "free pass" to do horrible things and break the law.

Supporting his films does not in any way support his rape and fleeing from justice... just as boycotting his films doesn't punish him at all for his crimes.

Does the money you get from your job make you any more or less able to commit crimes?
Boycott all you want, but remember, none of it makes a bit of difference to him.

The thing I wonder about Polanski is about what good would it serve to have him sentenced this far into time. Besides, we should probably have it known very well by now if this man escaped so well for so long, it'd be rather akward getting him sentenced now. He is the example of a man with the right contacts in the wonderful world of powerful people. Such is life.

I think this is totally disgusting. My husband and I saw it on the tv. My husband was getting mad and worked up so I started listening to find out what was going on. I dont care how long ago the crime was commited he should still be punished for his crime. If he was supposed to do time then they should catch him and make him do the time he bailed out on when he left the country. Anyone who touches a 13 year old girl is sick. No matter how good they might look they arent adults they are children still and their innocence shouldnt be taken from them. If he wasent famous he probably wouldnt have been let off the hook like he was.
