It depends on what area of the world you're talking about. Except for some countries in the Middle East, I think women have as much power and opportunities as men. Too many of the countries in the Middle East are still living in the dark ages.

hi sahilbange87 yes empowerment for women is needed
and that is the truth but the hottest topic for us'here
in Ca is to get jobs, the unemployment rate is sky'high and all men and women out of work are at risk of losing homes and
' or being evicted. we need jobs here and as soon as possible
that is the big issue here in the US right now. empowerment
for women is always a top issue too.

It would be nice to think it was the hottest topic, but it is nowhere near, and rarely has been. Think global warming, terrorism, economic crisis, the rise of China, and any of another hundred hot topics. It is only the hottest topic to those who are closely involved in the struggle for empowerment.
That said, yes, I agree, women do need more empowerment. In fact I believe that the WORLD needs more empowerment for women. They're far from perfect, and some are as bloody minded, aggressive, and warlike as most men, but the bulk of women I believe, would make a far better fist of running a humane world.
Apart from that, empowerment of women is simple justice, and common sense, since at the moment we men deprive the world of a huge bank of skills and intelligence that we really should be encouraging for the sake of both humanity and the earth itself.
