One has the sense of fear and of hesitancy to read the Bible. The sense of fear is common to all those who do not wish to be enlightened for what the Bible is trying to convey in understanding one's wicked self. There is also the feeling of dread that it may bring you to the world which is beyond everybody's reach. A feeling of awkwardness that you may be understood as somebody who does not belong to the common fold of human beings. Otherwise, we are all hesitant to read the Bible since we have miscontrued what it basically means to know its contents. We are not inclined to know its secrets. Why?

I would agree with andalond and peavey that one very sound reason why people don't want to read the Bible, try to disregard it, and want to believe it is a fallacy, is because they know that once they read it and find there IS a God, they become ACCOUNTABLE to that God.
On the other hand, I must say that I and countless millions of people who have come to know, love and serve the true God, have found absolute delight in reading His Word. It is our daily sustenance and joy.
