When I lived in the city, shops and other places were within walking distance, but now I have to go by car. I live in village, there is a supermarked here, but if I want to buy clothes or shoes, use the library, eat at a restaurant etc, I have to go to somewhere else. There are a couple of local busses in my area, but it isn't easy to go by bus. The government has cut back on the busses, and sometimes you have to wait many hours for the next bus. My husband and I sometimes talk about about this situation, and we both agree that it would very hard to get by without a car in this area.

depends, there are some days that i need to be alone and think, so i go out for a walk, and to get in that places.
in the other occasion i take my car, it's good to have a carto go where you want, and for the time you need.
if i take a pubblic bus or a train i have to wait them or risk to loose them.

I've been getting around by using my husband's work truck. We're out in the country so the closest stores are about 10 miles away (one way). With no public transportation available it's about the only option that I have at the moment.
Happy mylotting!

I would love to live in the city where everything is close enough to walk, or at least ride a bicycle.
I live a little out in the country, although it isn't too far from the city. There is a hill either way, which I have managed to get to the top of a couple of times on my bicycle. Although, there is a convenience store that is within bike riding distance, and I have rode my bike to a couple of times when it was nice outside.
It is nice to get the exercise of riding a bike, or walking, even if there isn't anywhere in close enough distance to include shopping in the trip. However, lately the weather won't quite tolerate walking or riding outside. So I have been walking on the treadmill indoors.
What about you? Do you live within walking distance of a market or other places that you need to go?

I used to go by car before when I go shopping in the city and out of town too. But, these days, with the gas prices rising, I go by buses and trains if the places are too far. Usung the public transport is much cheaper than driving own car. I use my own car only for going tp places where the public trans port is not available.

I drive my car when I go shopping or other place. There are times I could walk but do not I have become dependent on my car. I think that is what has happen to many people they want to get someplace fast and then back home so they use their car even it the place is close and they could walk.

I usually just walk around when going somewhere near our place but I use my car if it's far. If it is less than a kilometer away from our house, I would rather walk. It also keeps me fit. I can only exercise through the daily household chores. Aside from taking care of the house and my family, I work online. So I don't usually work out. I use walking as my work out so when I go out, I'd rather walk if it is just near.

It depends. If the place I am going to is near I just walk because it is also a form of exercise for me. If I have to carry some heavy things to go to a place or will get some things from the place I am going to, then I take a taxi. Also if I am going to a place where I am in formal clothes, then I take a taxi. When going to far places for vacation or visiting, I rent a van so I can bring as much things I want or need to bring and also can take along my family with me. I take a commuter bus in going to the provinces if I am alone because in so doing, I save on fuel expenses and can relax on my way going to the place. I have also taken the plane or the inter-island ships when I travelled to the provinces which were across the seas when I was employed as a sales coordinator covering outlets from the different islands of the Philippines.

I like walking. maybe park the car somewhere and then walk to see the shops
if it's close and sunny day I'd rather walk but most of the time hubby doesn't want me to walk
I guess there was a bit of criminal activities around here where women are the victims so he kind of worries about letting me walk on my own
these crimes happened in daylight too, at least what I heard

It's mostly by car. There are a few places that are walking distance from work or home, but most are not. And we don't have the best public transportation here.

If I'm going shopping I take my truck but, if my husband and I are going out to visit friends, to have dinner or just for a ride on a nice day, we ride one of his motorcycles.

Unfortunately here in New Mexico 99% of the places you have to go too you need transportation. So here I have to use a car. In New York it was better for transportation purposes. You could walk or use a bus or train. It wasn't always a car.

I like to walk, I walk to work every day.
Insist on walking to work every day can improve sleep quality at night. In addition, after meals, before going to sleep walking is also good to walk before going to bed help to promote sleep.
Regular walking can increase the deposition of calcium sources to reduce the loss of calcium, so that bones become stronger, reducing the possibility of suffering from osteoporosis.

I ussaully drive to a shopping plaza and then walk from store to store. Only time i drive to stores is if their far away. but ussaully i drive to a shopping plaza or a mall where theres store to walk around to. I think its easier to walk from store to store then driving and it saves gas.
