How to Dicipline a child

It is encouraged that children should not be punished by hitting them. I wonder what the alternative is to time out. They want to encourage using time out. Some children do no do well with time out. You tell them to go sit in a corner or go to your room and they tell you no and give you attitude. What do we do then. Anyone has any suggestion what should be done. Happy lotting.

No parent is born knowing how to be parents, there are pages dedicated to educting parents on how to educate their children. I in terms of physical punishment I disagree, I think an alternative to such punishment, which would remove any activity or toy that the child likes (like watching television, electronic games, computer, travel to undertake any) and I also belive that parents should stick to that decision and not decline to the manipulation that the child will do.
Just as the punishment should be reward, if you do somenthing well, have good grades in school, we should reward them with something they like.
As well as understand what is right and wrong.
