Hello my fellow mylotters I received a email this morning asking me to restore my account, I was asked to download a file and then put in my personal information then submit the form, has anyone ever received anything like this, I just want to be sure before I fill out this form, Can you please let me know so I can do what is needed not really sure how long I have, maybe there is another way for me to update my information without filling out this particular form? seems odd to me, but this is all new to me so this can be legit Thanking you all in advance.

No, I'm using Paypal as well but have never received any e-mail such you did. And I'm pretty confused by the file you had to download. I've never known before that Paypal will send you any file to download. Are you sure that the e-mail came from ORIGINAL PAYPAL? Be very careful when dealing with electronic account, especially about our money. It might be scam and fraud. As far as I know (I don't know if any other way also exists), the only way to update our information is through the original website of paypal.

Hello my friend You are right my friend, it was a scam they almost had me, but thanks to mylot and the wonderful posters here they responded so fast and I knew what had to be done, so I deleted that email real fast lol, people here are truly amazing and they really try to look out for us and I appreciate that, being fairly new myself not knowing how things work, I am really glad something made me stop and I listened, I would have been so upset right now Thank you so much.

I think you should check your paypal account first. I got an e-mail like that once, saying something was wrong with my paypal account and asking for personal information. I almost filed it out but then I went to my paypal account and nothing showed there. I wasn't sure anyways but I wouldn't enter my paypal information unless the link says paypal.com/blahblah

Hi kitty, it sounks like a phishing Email to me kitty, and I would mark it as such, and then delete it. I had those some time ago from various banks, and PayPal. All they are after is your money. Don't answer it under any circumstances. Take care kitty. Mike.

I think it's a good idea to never give your details out to any unsolicited emails. I just got a mail saying I won 675,000 Euros, Yeha! They want to know where to send the money, another way of pfishing for my account details. It's comforting to know you have friends here on myLot who will help you with anything you're not sure of. I have used myLot advice many times, and I'm happy to report it's always good. Thake care kitty. Mike.

I agree with MysD. Do everything and anything on your PayPal account by itself. The only thing I do through email is to create the link to the PayPal survey, which I've been brought to the real PayPal site. If you are in doubt, you can always ask emails to them and they normally take 1-2 days to answer, the best that I know so far. Hope this helps yeah..

Hi kitty, well that;s a relief. As I said, these kinds of Emails are called phising, because they are fishing for your bank details, something Paypal doesn't ask for after you have signed up. Lucky you didn't send them the information. Have a nice day.

I'm pleased to hear your interweb "Spidey Sense" kicked in so you didn't follow through with sending the information they requested by this email! But You mention having downloaded a file of some kind from the email to your computer-please do an antivirus scan as soon as possible to make sure it wasn't some kind of an infection that may now be on your computer..

I have received the similar emails now and then. I think they are all scams. Paypal will never send you an email like that. In fact you can pay attention to the sender address and you will understand that it's sent by a similar email address like Paypal. But it is not from Paypal. I love China

Don't do it. Log into your paypal from the browser and don't respond to this e-mail. Odds are it is a scam. I had one similar not long ago that I made a discussion about. You feel it in your gut and I think you may be right...someone is trying to scam you. If it is legit...it will be easy to tell by looking at your account.

No, I have never received anything of that sort. You have to be careful for there are a lot of people disguising to be from a certain site. They will squeeze information from you and will use that to get into your personal files.

...Hi kitty42, I don't know if you have filled out the form already, I hope you haven't. I was notified by a bank once that there were those requesting information that had nothing to do with my account from their end, and I should ignore it. The people were trying to get the information to steal. Please contact paypal before you do anything. If you have already downloaded or filled out the information, I would close your original paypal account and reopen another one. Also I would delete the downloaded information, if you did that. In this age of identity theft, we must be more than careful. Good luck, this sounds too strange. Contact paypal. Take care.

Do not respond - forward the email to Fraud@paypal.com. Also forward it to the fraud department of your internet service provider and virus software provider. Paypal never sends anything like this.

DON'T DO IT!!!!!! You are being scammed. Go to your Paypal account and you will discover that you can log in as usual (unless you have terminated it). Report the details of the scam to Paypal and then delete the offending E mail.

Hi, Kitty! More than two years ago, I have received an email from Paypal requesting me to restore my account access, but they did not ask me to download any file in fact the email instructed me to log in securely where I have to open a new window and type Paypal URL. I was given a Case ID and they would provide the steps on how to restore my account access once I was logged into the main site. So, in cases like this, be sure to make a mental note that always go to the main site in a new browser window for safety measure. Just be careful!

Thank you so much for your response.

Hi Kitty, Thanks for your sharing, I did not happened to this case and I think it is a scam from your description. If a task request me to put personal information, I will exit from that as it is not worthy of gambeling. Wast a lot of time for downloading or maybe harm your computor system the worse.
