i haven't had the opportunity to make many friends before. with the advent of the internet i have had many but don't know how to keep them. can someone help me..

Making friends and keeping them is all dependent on you being who you are. As long as you let others know you are approachable and act according to who you are the friends will come and the ones that truly like you for who you are will stay.
As for making internet friends, it's all the same really but don't be surprised if someone suddenly stops talking to you since the internet provides for a level of anonymity(is that even a word?) that real life doesn't have.
