Hi! I would like to ask one question before reply to this discussion to you that, are u learning windows server technologies. If your answer is yes, my reply will definitely give good clarity on active directory.
Active Directory is a service run by Windows servers (ex: 2003) to maintain user policies of the domain joined under that server. Administrators of the server can deploy common rules and properties to all users.
Like file permissions, application permission etc. to regulate.
