Why people do gossip and rumor?

When you heard something juicy rumor about your friends or someone you know. It's hard to keep it to your self. Even if it's true or not, you would likely tell someone about what you've known.
So what do you think are the reasons why people have that kind of urge to do gossip and rumor?

Maybe topic on gossip and rumor make a chat more fun? You know it is really hard to find a really good and fun topic to chat when talking with someone you just know. And if you gossip or talk about rumor with your good friends, that will be really fun, and there will be many laughter. So that is why people like to gossip and rumor I think.

Oh, well that's reason. I agree with you, it's really fun talking with other people lives, especially with girls. And sometimes when you're the one who bring the news to the group you're center of attention. That's why some people like to eavesdrop others conversations.LOL

Its all about human nature.. When you come to know something new about someone you feel or think that you should say others something new.. So if someone says something to u.. then u obviously say others that he said like that but i dono whether this is true or false..
So simple as that...

Yeah, I think it's part of human nature. It's our instinct to initially tell other people every time we know something juicy.LOL Well for me, when I heard something new from someone I make it sure that it won't hurt other people who's involved or if it's really true because I don't want to end up with trouble. I don't like confrontations either.

It is part of being human beings. Mostly, people can't control it. Some of them maybe are just insecure and have very low self-esteem. That's why, they have to target other people so the attention could be divereted to other people's mistakes than their own.

Hi careguarden..... HAPPY MYLOTTING...... I am right now doing my college... so having rumors about mostly every girl is being cute normal... But i don't know why some girls make it a big mess about another girl(probably whom they doesnt like) even without knowing what actually happened... and they dare to even narrate stories of their own to spoil their names.... I never indulge myself in such activity.... Its human mentality many says... But more than that it reveals the individual's cheap character....

People most likely spread rumors and gossip because when they do, they are suddenly in the middle of this buzzing community, that talks about all the bad stuff about someone else. It might just be for attention, because the more people on the gossip topic, the more "friends" you have.
