I used to believe that if a black cat ran out in front of you it is bad luck. I do not believe that anymore. When it happened to me a few times I would dewell on it and everthing that would happen to be that was bad I would blame on the black cat that ran out in front of me. I relize now that the idea of that was pretty silly to think such a thought. I love cats and know I would even love a black one. I am not afraid of one to run out in front of me anymore.

I don't believe that black color brings bad luck or black cat brings bad luck. My grand father used to say that black cat represents devil and it is not good to keep a black cat at home. So, we throw a way one of the black cats born at our home. I don't really believe in any of those old beliefs. Some people in my place believes that not only black cat, any cat taht crosses infront of you brings bad luck to yo.

Hi tuckersheri,
I am not sure if I used to believe this when I was younger, maybe as a young child but not anymore. I tend to jokingly say to myself that it is bad luck, but only in a teasing sort of way. I actually had a black cat run in front of me today while I was on a walk but nothing has happened so far, luckily. If something did happen though I would probably blame it on myself or Fate rather than the cat, it had a white belly so I think it is exempt from the rule LOL
All the best,
Dranz

I just remembered, it was strolling casually down the road too and only ran right at the end when it finally noticed me marching towards it. I think that would make it exempt too, so no bad luck for me lol

My mother, who was pretty superstitious, believed that black cats brought luck and I remember her just before midnight on newyears eve, putting our black cat out and then letting it back in after midnight in order to bring luck to the house. Traditionally it was thought that the first person across the threshold after the new year determined the luck of the house for the following year.
The cat was probably thinking, "These humans are crazy!"

I don't believe in those superstitious stuff. My nanny used to narrate to me some of her stories about having bad luck in certain days, or if I'll cut my fingernails at night, it would bring you bad luck; and the most popular one is having a black cat inside your home would still means getting more bad lucks. I think that's just very impossible and unbelievable. One time I saw a black cat, a he's staring at me with his green eyes - nothing happened. So, it's not really true.

No I don't believe in good or bad luck in general. I also happen to have a black cat that constantly runs from room to room in the house...so if that were true boy would I be one unlucky person haha.

I don't really think so. I don't see how that would be any different than if an orange cat ran in front of you.

Why do you believe that previously I don't know, but I have seen several persons just stops walking or turning a bike till the next person crossing the road, if a cat crosses it before. Bad idea always comes to human beings, I think. So why not blame a cat for anything bad in our life. After all we are humans.

i think believing in such sayings is up to you. It somehow makes life creative and exciting or you something you can just laugh at when your with your friends. It doesnt make you any less of a person if you believe itthough. But do not get too paranoid or cranky when you see one. Its still what we do that gets results.

no. i do not believe in superstitions or in luck. sometimes things just happen and there is no explanation or reason or there is no coincidence involved. i prefer to deal in facts whenever possible.

I knew long time ago that seeing black cat or a black cat runs out in front of you is bad luck from a "western" country, I'm not sure which is country is orginally from though. But I don't believe it, I have a black cat, people say it is bad luck bad luck but I don't think and I wont particularly avoid it.

This is one among the worst superstitious beliefs prevailing in some regions. I find this one more in India and particularly in the under developed regions.
I feel pity towards the poor black cat. Everybody blames it when anything goes wrong on the day when the black cat ran out in front of you. Actually, everything is based on you. The best part of this thing is that people used to schedule even important things believing that delaying their activities help them to escape from dangers if any.
It's really a matter of fun. I don't believe this thing anytime. It's better not to interrelate fortune or destiny with these things. Those things do exist. But they are quite different. In most of the cases, Humans are the ones who commit mistakes and not the cats.
