Hi, My opinion is 3 years is a very good age for the child to learn his first steps in education.. Because in that age children will be forced to go to school but basic foundation lies good in that age and every child will be having good memory power and learn things very soon. so its the right age..

Hi jiamxjumax, kindergarten age here is 4-6, so two years before school starts. My son was 3 months short of 5 when he started there and it was from 8.30 to 3.00. He soon got very bored of it as although he enjoyed the new friendships he made he wasn't really into colouring in and that kind of thing, so it was lucky that the school took him on at 5. There real learning commences but I believe age totally depends on the individual child. Mine was anxious to learn and get stuck in and loved it from the start. He had already learned to read at age 3 which of course adds to the pleasure of any childhood. So at age 5 he also learned to read in Greek. He has always attended optional afternoon school till 4 though he could leave at 1. He has the opportunity though to finish all his homework at school so that after school time he then has freedom to play or meet friends or follow one of his other fads. For the last 2 years he followed an after school football programme which was initially 2 afternoons a week, but this year has asked not to go as the coach wants them to attend 5 days a week and my son complains that makes him too tired and encroaches on his free time, but he made that decision and I am going along with it. He is of course still a child but I don't think a good education detracts from childhood and if the teachers are inspiring then it only enchances it. In my sons case he loves school completely but still enjoys childhood.
