Can someone tell me how to get rid of snails?

Help! There are way too many snails in my garden. Snail pellets don't seem to work. Putting salt on them is too tedious and limited to only those I can see. What else can I do?

In my gardens also many snails are found, I think that these are good for the land for gardening. I hate putting salt on these organisms as i feel the pain which they go through, since they are also living organisms.
