My free stress reliever is running. I took it up the first part of this year mostly because I didn't have the money to spend on the gym! I saw a runner's world magazine and thumbed through it. Then I figured I could run anywhere anytime I wanted and it wouldn't cost me anything! What little costs I have incured have not gotten close to what a gym membership would have cost for these few months! I still run. I am loving it and it does help me clear my mind and relieve stress. I also sleep better at night!

That's funny because basically that's why I started running too. I couldn't afford the gym and I wanted to lose weight. Ironically, I've now gained close to 20 pounds. But I still fit the same size (mostly) so I don't care too much. I figure that the weight will come off eventually.

You probably gained muscle!! That works anyway because it burns more calories than all this fat I am starting to carry around!! (Although I did set a new personal best on a 5K today!)

I say go for a run, or walk. That always helps, and it is very cheap and easy to do. You can always try reading too, or playing a game online. Those can help! Good luck!

It's hard when you're afraid you won't have enough money to pay your bills. If you're very careful and find ways to save on everything before the bills have to be paid, it will help.
But that's not what you asked... the best free way to relieve stress is to sort of hypnotize yourself. Lie down where it's very comfortable and you're neither too hot or too cold. Start at your toes, and concentrate on them. Tense the muscles of your toes and hold them there for a count of five, then relax them slowly while counting to five again. Do your feet that way, then lower legs, upper legs, and so on. Don't skip anything. Do your back, stomach, chest, throat, fingers, hands, arms, jaws, face and head. Before you get finished you'll feel relaxed and refreshed.
There's no sense in stressing about anything if you can't do anything about it. If you CAN do something about it, then do it. And there's no sense in stressing about it if you can change it.
Good luck!

I would have to say running too. Or riding a bike. Although riding a bike gives me more time to think it seems. So then I end up thinking about all sorts of things. I even wrote a paper in my head once on a 50 minute long ride. But with running I don't tend to be thinking as much, just enjoying the run.
