Today marks the start of the hockey season. Everybody has gotten their prediction on who will win the Stanley cup next year. I've sent in my hockey pool line up, and I picked the Flyers to meet with my Canucks in the finals. Bobby Luo will have a great year and will win all the way. I am planning the parade route in my head right now. Funny how easy it is to jump on the bandwagon without the wins and losses yet. I wonder how long will it take for people to jump off.

I hate making predictions this early because I haven't seen all the teams play yet. I'm not going to pick my own team win the Stanley Cup. Being a Chicago fan I know it's not realistic with Huet in net. I do think Chicago will make the playoffs but they won't repeat the success they had last season. Detroit is still good despite losing key players. To me they're still the team to beat until someone proves otherwise. San Jose will still dominate the regular season and choke in the playoffs . Western Conference: Calgary, Nucks, St. Louis, Chicago, San Jose, Detroit, Dallas, Ducks. Winner: Ducks
Despite what I said about Detroit I think the Ducks win it. They have a strong team with experience and a lot of young talent. Probably not a lot of people are picking the Ducks in the media. They just look like a balanced lineup with players that know what it takes to win. Detroit is not as good as they were 2 years ago. Just my opinion.
Eastern Conference: Pittsburgh, Capitals, Florida, Boston, Flyers, Devils, Carolina, Montreal
Winner: Pittsburgh will repeat
Boston and the Flyers are the Pens only hurdles. They probably will only face one of them so I like their chances.
The Ducks win another Cup.

I agree that the Avs are a surprise this year. Specially, considering that there wasn't really much expected of them during the pre-season. I keep waiting for them to show their true colors and fold. Yet, they keep on winning. And have you heard the story of this Craig Anderson? How he was drafted twice? And been sent to waivers 3 times in 15 days.
Cinderella story indeed!

The Ducks haven't been doing so good. San Jose had been playing tough. Hard to ignore the Redwings with all their talents. The Av's been doing good with their new goalie, we will have to see how consistent they are with all the new players, they really don't have any dominant player so to speak. They still need to be a little more aggressive in fore-checking. Should be a interesting year in the West.

I have Vancouver over Washington in the Cup final. Luongo will shake off first game and rebound next game. Canucks ran into penalty troubles early in the first period and that was the game. They badly out shot the Flames after the first period.
