I live in Kentucky and we don't get charged extra for the cans here. We just pay for the pop and that is it. So to recycle those cans would be like full benefit of it. We have several recycling centers around and I think you can get like 30 cents a pound for the cans. I don't recylce the cans only because we don't buy pop in the can. For those out there that do..oh yes it would be to their advantage to recycle. Great discussion and have a great evening..

:-D Thank you for sharing. I wish it was like that up here. I think that it shouldn't be a law that we have to pay for the five cents wethere or not were gonna return it.

Yeah I know. The first time I was in Mass. and they added that cents I ask why it was higher than what it said and the clerk explained to me. I thought that was so crazy. I was shocked and angry at the same time.. I wish you all didn't have to pay either..

I love to recycle bottles and cans here in NYS. The extra money comes in handy and helps pay down some bills. We realized that for every $10 we pay down on a bill, we save $13 in principal and interest. Makes sending in $5 in bottles and using the money toward bills ($6.50 paid) that much better.

Thats a good idea. Making your extra money save you extra. I never thought of that and yea that extra money comes in handy when you need it.

Here in Oregon it is a five cents charge i always bring the cans back for my nickel. I guess some people just think its a hassle especially when they only have one or two cans to recycle. I figure a nickel is a nickel and if i put the nickels in a piggy bank then I will have some extra spending money some day. Not every place has the recyclin law. I know in Arizona they don't charge a can fee. So most people just throw away their cans and bottles.

Yea, Its Five cents here in Mass too. It's ten cents in Ohio but I don't know if they have the law for it. But for people who don't have a lot of canned or bottle drinks then it wouldn't be worth it unless you save for a long time but I ussualy cash mine in every month and get like $20 so thats extra money
