Dear Mylotters,
In our myLot community, we can give only one person the best response (BR). But I hope that you may not be impressed with only one response but may be two or three.
If you get some 50 or more responses you will probably have the confusion to give to BR to whom. I often had this and I hardly select a BR for the person from that 4-5 good responses.
What is your idea? ...Can we have three responses as good, better and best for a single discussion? For discussions with below 3 responses we could have only one BR
Will it really work out? Please give a general opinion about your experience, responses for your discussions and an idea how to implement if you thought it is nice....
Can we start a new discussion to announce the three BR....?
Waiting for your awesome ideas and thoughts....
Cheers... Have a nice day always...

Yeah, that is a good ideas and I myself too is confuse in giving best responses and sometimes the best replies comes when I already awarded the best responses. I think your proposal is nice and it is up to the administrator if they are going to approve your own suggestions.

I find it difficult to pick just one excellent response but I am not sure how we would go choosing a second and maybe a third best. I have to wonder if it would get a bit messy allocating three BRs for the one discussion. I just struggle along and pick one but I always let any other great responders know that I thought their reply was one of the best as well.

You can only choose the best of the best....lol
However, you can actually give rep to the member who provide good answer other than "best respond". This is the use of reputation "+"

But what if I not got with one? will not it'll be in the 'not resolved' discussions?
I can use reputation but how the members knew that?... only the BR known to the world right?

If none of them are the "best", then nothing wrong to let the discussion open to get more respond. Yes, the problem is the member does not know who is giving the reputation. However, when the member see their reputation keep on increase, it will actually motivate the member to make more response on discussion. I think this is what we need, we need member to be active in discussion especially those member are always giving good response

Apparently this is a winner takes all website. But it would be interesting if we could rank the responses, at least the top 3. I wonder how many people would take the time.

no i don't think that we can have more than 1 best response. this is a problem that i am also facing, once i started a discussion, and there were 50 responses to choose a best response :( it was quiet a difficult task but there was once guy, whose response i chose the best, because when i questioned him again in the same discussion he answered me quickly and was very active as well. so it was not a big problem but i think we should be able to select more than one best response.

I think it is a lot more difficult to choose which response is the best if there are only around two to five responses. It would look too biased and it's hard to make one feel good and the rest feel miserable as if they haven't even given the best they could. But I do think that would be a good idea to have some ranking of sorts. There are some ways to do that though, even without official ranking or anything. You could reply to the response and give them compliments. Now you don't have to rate multiple BRs (which, by the way, is not quite possible). I think that would make the respondent feel a lot better. I just don't know what the bearing of the best response rating is. I need some enlightenment on it. Heh heh.

hi phillip__shiny well since we are limited to only one'best response what I do if I see several that are just as good
I will tell each responder if mylot had allowed me three best
responses you would be number two best response, and you would
be number three best response. At least then I am acknowledging that I felt they made really good responses.

yes it is good idea phillip. But it would become problematic to selct good better best because in some of my discussions i got single , two responses. So in that case it would be hard to select three categorized responses. But yes it should be optional that you can select only best or only good and best like that then i will work.So now in todays world of race, good, better , best is good idea. This is the idea which can change mylot. Have a nice day!!
Cheers

Lol, no I don't think we should be able to do that. Choosing which response is best doesn't really make much of a difference for them to need to add this feature.
Besides, if you have more than one best response then that means none of them are the "best." Since three people have the "best response" the three won't know which of them really is best
So it can get pretty rough out there...

Intersting idea yet I think it won't come true.
First of all will complicate both the usage and the site-scripting.
Second is I think owners / admins of mylot are not quite noobs in this "biz" while site have an age .. I mean they sure know from long a go (maybe even from own experience) sometimes is hard to choose a BR. And if they selected this system is probably because is optimal. Imagine that BR maybe influence the rating or maybe influence the (no, I won't say it, I know is not allowed to talk about ..)
Instead I would suggest that once BR is awarded, disscusion to become "read-only" ...
