I am compelled to bring this topic up after what has happened here in the last few days. In two separate cases, 2, 6 yr-old kids were raped and killed by their attackers. In one case it was a 50+ aged man who committed this brutal attack and in the other 2 school students. These are not freak cases, but things that is going on in our world every day. While some rapists who are serial killers like Ted Bunty for example, were executed, should the law be made more stringent to dissuade these perpetrators of crime from committing such heinous crimes in future?

I think they should be castrated, and THEN quarantined.
Something more should be done, to protect these poor kids who fall victim to these animals.
I was watching something last night, about a young woman, who was raped and murdered by a gang of five men...it was heartbreaking, like five animals, with a victim. Somebody's daughter, and they treated her like she was nothing!!
Something needs to be done, to get these animals off our streets forever!

With so many people in favor of a more severe punishment, the states need to introduce a bill to deal with these animals like never before. Maybe a public flogging like that in the Arab world followed by capital punishment is what is needed to deal with these creeps. I hope someone in a high position reads this and does something substantial to make the voice of the people heard. Thanks for the post, forestgold.

[b]Bad as rape is, I don't think it quite rises to the level of an offense deserving execution...but I could go with banishment/quarantining. That way, they could live, but normal people would be safe from them. I think this ought to be done for sure to child molesters! They can rarely be turned, & the honest ones among them admit it.
And they could start with the people (that man AND WOMAN!!) who stole that 14 year old girl, or Polanski, heck, the news has been full of them & other perverts more & more in the last few years.

Personally I am in favor of capital punishment and that must be regularly handed to rapists, more so in cases of Child rape. One should inquire well into the case collect evidence, fix the guy, doubly make sure that he is the guy and simply send him to the gallows. If we do not punish him by Human Law, then he will be forced to take the long blind route of Karma. The shorter route of handing down Capital Punishment is good for both- the rest of the society and the rapist.

The most unfortunate thing is that in our country, most of these rapist and murderers go free after serving just 5 to 7 years in Jail. Only God can help India.

Rapists, be it against children or adults must face a serious punishment. Saudi is a place where there is capital punishment for such crimes and this law should be brought into law in every civilized country. Only when such laws come into effect will perpetuators of such crimes think twice before even contemplating such acts.

I think the rapist who rape and killed should be executed as he show no mercy to his victims need to be executed. While those who rape but not killed their victims must be rehabilitate for their psychotic perverted behavior as they may changes with proper counseling and medication. i do believe even bad people have their own goodness and they just need an extra times to discover it to repent their sins becoming a good person and not menace to the society. All is capable of giving another chances..

Do you think the rapists would have thought about the victim's agony before committing such acts? There is no doubt that most serial killers have a chequered background and that it was because of that they began to act this way. But if they had such problems in life, they should have consulted a psychiatrist and overcome their weakness. Forcing themselves on others because of their past is no reason for them to be treated liberally. Can you imagine how the victims would have been traumatized before they were abused and murdered? If like you say that even bad people have some goodness in them, which i don't disclaim, it doesn't mean that they can be put in jail for a few years and be released into society again. Raping a person is one thing and raping and murdering a child another.
Thanks for the post, neelianoscet.

No, suchi60, not executed nor quarantined.
rapist, murderes and all similar should be adopted and send to live in same house with the people who cry out loud "they did wrong but life is sacred since the moment of conceiving". But not forever, no sir, one week, then rotate them to other families with same belifs.
Why rotate ? Well, if they stay more than a week with a "right to lifers" family, they may persuade those to help the rapist/killer to do next "job".
(sarcasm mode off)
Now serious .. quarantined is a permanent risk they escape .. castration won't solve the problem, them problem is not physical, is mental, they can develop a "pleasure" by raping with something else, projecting them sexuality to something else (in them sick mind is possible, it has happen) ...
A deserted island where they should be droped and there could be a nice training area for special troops .. this way they can be somehow usefull for human society prior to dissapear.
BUT !! (there's always a but ..)
Prior to that, all should be in chains and for 1-2 years they should be kept on sort of bycicles and forced to treadle 12-16 hours a day to produce electricity.

I think they should be executed. That would get them off the street and cut down on the cost of housing them in prison for years and years. They certainly should not be allowed back in Society. They took life, therefore theirs should be taken as well. They don't deserve to love!

As long as they're proven guilty of their crime... Then it would be better for them to be in a quarantined, not jailed, not in any type of camps, they would be confined alone in small rooms with a bed and toilet only... We would not be different from them if they would be executed.

In a society like ours, pardon for crimes seems to dominate punishment. If we study the mentality of a criminal after serving a sentence, he/she seems ready to commit another similar offence without a second thought. This is because they have understood the consequences of their crimes and are sure to come out again, should they be caught. This does not guarantee safety for the unsuspecting public at large. In a country like Saudia Arabia, th crime rate is much less, simply because their law does not compromise on repentence. Once you commit a crime, it is a crime, and should not be judged by the intensity of it. Let there be a similar law elsewhere and this world will be a safer place for all to live in. Thank you for the post, Tantrums.
