Many people are proud of being photographed and exchange their photos with others for the sake of remembrance. I was in my mum's house the other day and was going through all the photo albums which are still kept nicely in her study room. What I noticed is that people used to write some notes behind their photos with their signatures. I believe this is no longer in practice now. The black and white photographs are in far contrast with the colored photographs now. I have also a good collection of my own photos in the 70s and 80s. When I look at myself now and then, I feel sad as there is no trace of the face I once owned. It shocked me to see how great the changes in me with the passage of time. When I looked at the mirror I can see my mother staring at me. Though I don't have the beauty of a beauty queen but I can still remember walking in the air whenever I get wolf whistles in my heydays. Now...I have to admit aging has taken its toll on my physical appearance. The gravity of aging has pulled the shape of the face and body in all uncontrolled directions.
I am now camera shy as I no longer worthy of being photographed, not photogenic anymore. Some people age gracefully and still look great in their twilight years. Am sure some still look gorgeous in real and in photographs. Do you still take pictures of yourself as much as you did when you were young?

I have never liked my picture taken even when everyone said I was pretty and blah blah. LOL! Even when I was really skinny I didnt like them. I dont think I take good pictures at all. However I love a few of me that I kept but most I get rid of.
That said yes age does take a toll, that is for sure. After having all our kids and just going thru life you can look beat down at times. lol I am thankful I look even half good as I do (most think Im about 10 years younger then I am and I will take that! lol) However when I look in the mirror I see the lines that werent there before. I see the gray hair coming in. WHERE did my youth go!

Hi zandi. I've never really been photogenic. If anything I hate having my photo taken! LOL I'm usually the one behind the camera taking the pictures anyway. I'd much rather be the one taking the pictures than the one being photographed. It's just better that way! LOL
Happy mylotting!

I was never beautiful. You could not describe me as "pretty" or "lovely" but I was attractive and I had a certain something. My looks have gone as well and I wish I had taken more photos of myself when I was young. There are more opportunities for photos now that the digital age is here but I don't want to be photographed now that I have lost my looks.

Hi Humbug, forunatley although am in my 50's I still look good and have got better than when I was in my teens, the thing with photo's with me is that I have never liked my photo taken and refuse to let anyone take any of me although there have been a couple of occasions that I have allowed one to be taken. In a sense though it is a shame as my children won't have anything to show my grandchild of what I did look like and neither will my children, so may have a nice one taken but for them not anyone else...hugs LoLo

It needs someone to view and give their honest comments as we are not the best judge to rate ourselves. I don't know why the nice features of me are always hidden behind the worse side of me and I often end up being over critical of myself. But honestly, I am not photogenic at all.

Black and white were very kind to everyone, but with the colour and all those mega pixels pointing out every age spot and wrinkle. What we must remember the people who love us don't look at the floors they just look at us.Not many of us were raving beauties who would want to be,just be yourself. My wolf whistling days are over as well, but thats for the younger ones we have had our day.Photos just show the passage of time and remind you of events ,normally happy ones.So just do what I do and enjoy your next stage of life.

i am too conscious in front of camera that makes my photograph somewhat made up.hence imostly avoid being photographed.but i don't think age shouldn't be a detterant in being photographed.i know things change but your memories are worthy in itself besides your looks.so go ahead and "say cheese".

I think I'm photogenic because I always look good on pictures. I always make sure that I smile and look good on pictures because in the future when you see it you'll appreciate in and not laugh at it. But sometimes its fun making laugh at it.

I have many photos during childhood but they were burned after our house was caught in fire in 2001. I don't like taking pictures of me when I was young because I don't look good during that time. When I was in high school, I usually give pictures of me to my friends with dedication at the back. Nowadays, I enjoy taking pictures of me, my family and friends, everything. I can say that I'm photogenic now because I have developed physically.

I'm not that old yet, but I don't like taking pictures much. There's no particular reason for that. I just don't like posing in front of a camera. I usually only have my picture taken when I'm with my boyfriend or someone else. I have very few solo pictures, and my poses are the same. I don't look bad in pictures, but I'm just not fond of posing solo.

Hi zandi! oh my gosh I'm not photogenic at all! LOL! Taking a picture of myself takes a lot of time since I can't get a nice one on the first shot! I mean, I still need to get a good lighting, fix my hair, practice my smile, get the right angle and stuff, unlike with the photogenics wherein all they need to do is look at the camera and viola! a photo worth keeping! :D
I do admire my pictures when I was still a kiddo but then again, we ALL look cute during our childhood years :D Now, even though I'm still in my 20's, I still don't look good in cameras. That's why I don't have so many close-up photos of just me coz I always get frustrated everytime I look at the pictures, LOL. The only great pictures I have is when I were in parties and I had my make-up on and it's not close-up :D

hi zandi although many people say I look younger than my 'age
I dislike photos of myself as I think I always look bored
and sleepy. When I was younger I was much better looking but
now I look more like a senior citizen than ever. I don't think
I ever was really photogenic. I was not ugly just not really
gorgeous that's all.

In the true sense of the word, no one is ugly. We are infact beautiful in our own ways. My pictures always highlight my worse features like my big nose and wide forehead but my best assets like my almond eyes and my lips are obviously hidden. That is why I seldom go in front of the camera.

It's a shame that people no longer label photos. When my mother passed, I inherited several boxes of pictures. Some are in albums, others are loose. Other than picures of immediate family, I have hundreds of pictures of people that I have no idea who they are. Some undoubtably are family, others are friends that she had throught her life.
Don't be critical of yourself in pictures...hardly any of us really like what we see in them, especially as we get older. But for the people who love us, they see the person that they love.

Yeah, I take my pictures alone or with groups as I likes photography. I am the one who always takes the pictures of my family in every occasion. I must say that i am not a camera shy type of gal. Whether aging makes a lot of changes in the appearance of a person it is not enough reasons to get shy as everyone gets older in due times. Acceptance of the fact is necessary to live gracefully as the beauty that counts still is found on the inside and not on the outside physical appearance that counts which matter most.
