would you tell anyone? i mean eventually depending on how you spend it family and friends will notice you are getting new items or not stressing over bills etc.. but yet as soon as you let it be made known then there are always some people that come out of the woodwork and have their hand out wanting a freebie..
would you tell your family and friends? would you keep it a secret and act like nothing is different and ignore questions on why your getting new things and continue your job etc? would you choose to tell some people over others and why?
i think i would tell family, close friends and then if i moved into a new house or town etc i would just never mention it to anyone i became friends with in the future so that they would just think my life was normally the way it was and i wouldnt have to explain any changes and worry about them knowing and wanting part of it..

I may not tell anyone if I won a large sum of money right now. I might tell a few people, but not alot. It would also depend on how much I won. Depending on how much I won, I coul say the money was coming from different ways.

I don't think I would really mention it. I would pay off debt and then just have a lot of money in the bank. I have a friend who is very comfortable - has more money than anyone else in our circle of friends, and I know this causes problems with her family. She hasn't told any of our friends though, just me.

Normally, When somebody won the lottery the number is told in the media and if you're not taken in a photo for the newspaper, no one will notice it. In case that I won in the lottery, I'll be as quiet as possible and only my close family will be aware of it and I'll secretly travel with my family into another place pretexting that we are going in the countryside getting some fresh air.
The reason is that, out there the are people that are waiting freebie and on the top of that they lean on you to be a Godfather and caregiver and vanish when everything just gone. Cause of the hardship out too, you'll become a opportunity to seize so imaging many requesters standing by your door.
So, I'll be very very discreet and only my close people will be enjoying that reward with me cause in the good and bad they were with me.

No, I don't think I would. The only ones that I would tell are my husband and our kids. Of course with our oldest being autistic I don't think he'd understand anyway. LOL Hopefully the media wouldn't give us away. The last thing I want is for people to be hounding us for money, especially those that we don't even know.
I think I'd just ignore the questions. Either that or just fib a little and say things are going good right now. As my husband and I tend to keep to ourselves it wouldn't be a problem for us anyway.
Now if only we could win the lottery...
Happy mylotting!

i think that people shouldnt have to have their names posted if they win.. maybe they could put like their picture and no names or first names etc other wise they are just setting their winners up for harrassment

That's not something you could hide whether or not you wanted too--your name would be in the paper and on the news, so people would probably find out anyways.
But if I had a choice, then I would defeniatly tell the people closest to me--my parents, my sisters and brother. They would know and they wouldn't be asking for hand outs (but that doesn't mean they wouldn't get any).
You said I'd win a huge amount, and that's good. I would use MOST of the money I won to start up my own nonprofit, it's something I really want to do. BUT I would probably give my family some of the money.
***I'd probably give my oldest sister and her husband $50,000 just to do what they want with it...take a vacation or save it up. THEN I would give her an extra $10,000 to put into my nephews savings account, good amount to have when you're one right? lol
***I would give my second oldest sister $30,000, and then give her an extra $10,000 for each of my nieces (I have 2). I think with that earning interest for 10 years (plus whatever my sister adds to it over the years) would be a nice amount when they need to start college.
***I would give my brother money too, probably $50,000 too stay fair lol.
***I would help my younger sister pay off her student loans (if she has any), and then depending on how much that costs I would give her a little extra for her future plans.
***And then my parents, I would probably give my parents more than my siblings(no offense to them!) lol. So far I'm out over 150k for my siblings, so my parents would probably get about 100k for themselves, maybe even more. I know they want to travel when all us kids move out of the house, and that would help them do it comfortably.
I know if I won hundreds of millions of dollars that might not seem like a lot to give my family, BUT the nonprofit I have in mind would cost a lot, so I'd need to hold on to it. But of course, if any of my family ever needed help (hopely not too much after my gifts then I wouldnt turn them down).

I'm not exactly sure where it would be in the paper--but I know someone winning a 100 million + lottery would make the news! :P
I forgot to mention I would also give a large amout to my grandmother to help her out! :D lol

that would prob be a good thing to keep it from your kids other wise they might be "popular" all of a sudden and not realize people are just wanting to be their friends because of the money or they might start taking things for granted

I wouldn't tell anyone. I would try to keep it as much of a secret as possible. I would just pay off the house I live in, and I would stay here. I would probably go pay cash for a new truck though. LOL The only thing I would have a hard time explaining is how I was able to do all that AND quit my job to go back to school at the same time LOL

I would not tell to anybody and to change my life style I will not. rather to establish a business to take cover and tell them that I am earning here from my business, and gradually helping my closes family, make some unanimous donations to the orphaned simple project to help them if this is a million dollars I will build a foundation for the poor and hospital. It is nice to dream, hope this will happen to our lives.

Of course I will share my happiness to my close friends and family. It so nice to share your excitement with your love ones. But of course I will tell them to keep it within us only for safety purposes as well. I will treat them and give a little percent to them and use the money wisely. Money is very hard to earn but super easy to lose.
I will not share the news to anyone else aside from them. It will be also good to share a little part of my blesings to the needy, like I will donate to charity to bring back all the glories.

Yes I think they will, I trust them. Anyway, may I ask why you posted this kind of discussion? Have you won in a lottery or some kinda big money?

If I won in a lottery I will keep it secret to other people. Only my family will know about it. I will do that to protect my self and my family. I'll keep it secret to my friends but if they need help especially in terms of financial needs I will help them and I will never ask them to pay me anything.

I would only tell a select few people, and then I think I'd tell them I won a lot less than I did (maybe $50,000 instead of $5 Million. It's one thing to share, but I woudln't want all kinds of people trying to mooch off of me. Also, my husband has a few ex-wives I'd have to watch out for. LOL

i would tell. there's no reason to hide the fact that you were blessed eoungh to come into a nice bit of money. i know that if it happened to me i would tell, but that doesn't mean those who come to me with their hands out sob stories that they will get any of it.

true but sometimes it causes conflict in their families since one person will want a hand out and if you say no then others might think you were wrong in saying no but oh well! its your money

i don't know how to do, but i think taht i don't tell anyone that i won the lottery, i'll continue to go to university, and everything that i made normally.
i don't need to show everyone i'm rich.
sure i need a car, but i'll not buy a ferrari, but a small car, just for my needs.
i love my life now, i don't want nothing that can change it.

If I won the lottery or got a huge sum of money, I will tell my familers and close friends, let they share with my experience. It depends on the people's character.Because if I buy a new house and moved in it, I will worry my familers or close friends adoubt what the source of my money, why I got so much of money. so it's no problem to share my experience to them.
