Two week notice is usually how much notice you should give your current employer before leaving for any reason, another job or whatever. Sometimes people don't give that much notice, but they still call it two weeks notice. It gives your employer time to find a replacement etc. although that really isn't enough time if someone needs a lot of training. It is always a good idea to keep on your boss's good side so he'll give you a good reference in the future.

Good point here cerebellum about giving a required two week notice and keeping on the company's good side for reference purposes. I always gave at least two weeks notice to any company I ever worked for whether they required it or not. Some of the places I have worked for in the past have even contacted me months later and asked if I wished to return to work for them and I think part of that is not only was I a good worker, but I also left on good terms as far as staying long enough to train the replacement. You are right though, depending on the job, two weeks notice is usually not long enough.

Two weeks notice means that you have to advise your employer at least two weeks before you intend to leave therefore giving him or her two weeks notice or warning if you like. For example you if you intend to leave on the 30th you must let your employer know by the 16th.

i could not think of anything else but a notice that you give out to your boss when you need to resign from your work and minimum notice is 2 weeks, to give time for your company to find your replacement... i believe more companies would require at least a month's notice as 2 weeks is not enough.

it means u need two weeks ahead in order to be allowed to start doing a thing. it is usually used when u need to resign from a first job. the employer requires u to advise them TODAY that u are resigning two weeks after. u can only find "two", "week", "notice" separately in the dictionary. we say "two-week" notice instead of "two-weeks" notice because it is used as an adjective here.

I would say this refers most to a job. If you have a contract with a company and they wish to terminate it, they will give you a period of notice. This allows you time to try and find alternative employment.
Looking at this from the other side if you have a job and you want to terminate it you may have to work a period of notice. This is so they have enough time to try and find someone suitable to replace you in the job you were doing.
I hope this helps, have a nice day.
