I will have less money this year than last but it is ok. I will make ends meet and it will be good. I have enough money already saved for Christmas dinner,. I save coins all year and change them out before Christmas. I always have enough to buy turkey, ham etc . I also buy little gifts throughout the year. Last year my kids and I decided to buy just little gifts for each other and spend more on the children. This we did. H==If you have love then you have everything for Christmas. Remember that the reality is that Christ did not just appear in a nice warm stable. He was born into the filth and muck of animals in that stable and in the world. Dirt was all around him but He was born so that we can have eternal life. If we have love then we have everything.

I meant to say, that's the best gift of all.

I seem to be having less to spend every year. This year I doubt I'll be able to get more than the very basics for my immediate family. It's so depressing. I used to love spoiling people at Christmas. I always feel so guilty, even when people say they understand.

I haven't really been big on buying people gifts for holiday's. Now that My husband and I Are together, we are going to try to buy gifts for those who have done things to help us first, and then for others last if we can. Since we're just starting out, we'll know people will understand, and may even insist that we don't get them anything at all, or that we shouldn't have... but we will give gifts to his parents definitely, who have helped us out so much! For the past two years I haven't had a job, so mylotting has been what I've done to make money. My husband has a job, and now it's my turn to look hard and long for one! Good Luck On gifting, and I hope you can get and give many gifts this year!

I remeer seeing somewhere on line that you can print free gift tags. I did this last year. Every little saving helps. My biggest tip is to buy a turkey for Thanksgiving and get the butcher to cut it in half. Use one half for thanksgiving and save the othe half for Christmas. Try and buy the biggst you can for as cheap as you can. Pick up one can of something for Christmas each week that you will need for Christmas dinner or for a gift. Don't worry. Of course people will understand.

This year I want to take to the time to be really thoughtful with the people I care about and give a more personel touch. You know the saying, It the though that counts? I pretty much true. I appreciate gifts that people time the time to think about me as a person and not just a number.

Something More Personalized and Personal, something maybe even made instead of just bought? Is that what your talking about? Personal gifts, and gifts that had took time to make are great.

I think it will be about the same for me. I have the two girls to buy for plus my b/f plus probably his family. They always get us stuff and it would make me feel terrible not to get them anything. I'm going to go ahead and start buying a little here an there that way I can be ready. Last year I run around like a nut trying to finish up.

Can you believe how fast this year went by? I know what you mean about getting things but not giving, I feel bad when that happens too. This year we just got married, but we're still going to have enough to buy gifts for a few people. We know we'll be spending more then we did last year. My husband has a job, and I hope to get one soon! Oh and as for buying, yes, I like to be leisure and not have to rush at the last minute, makes it more stressful, and I'm already a stressaholic.

We are definitely in a tighter financial situation this year than we were last year as for the first six months of this year my husband didn't get to work any overtime. Thankfully, though, he is getting it back now so that is helping us financially now. We also have moved into our own house this year and with that has came bills that we weren't used to having. We actually owned our home for a year before we decided to move in. As far as gifts that I've already gotten, I've probably got about half of my Christmas shopping done thanks to Amazon giftcards. I've been buying gifts 25-50 dollars at a time as I earn free gift cards.

One thing that is definitely awesome is overtime, not everyone likes to work over time and I'll tell you I am one of those persons, but though we haven't dealt with it ourselves, we've seen that more money definitely helps. Also, getting gift cards from amazon by purchasing gifts from the site is awesome, did I understand you correctly? We just got a e-amazon gift card from swagbucks that we're going to use to get some cards for magic. Hey but just have fun and good with all those bills.

I'm not a big spender but I give gifts that are affordable and useful to my friends and family. Sometimes I prefer a personalized gifts that I made and I often get a positive feedback from them. It's not how expensive your gifts are. It's the thought that counts.

I am hoping. I have been putting a little extra in the Christmas account the last few months. So we might have a little more, but not a lot more. I do have a couple of online things that I am hoping will be ready to pay off around Christmas so that will help too. But we will not have as much as we did in previous years, last year was a particularly bad year. I am hoping this year will be better.

I know it's particularly hard to find good gifts at right prices now that the economy is bad, and so much more money is being spent on just getting by with bills etc. I hope that you can scrounge some money up. I am planning to pay particular attention to mylot these next few months to make some money in order to help buy gifts. I'll have to work extra hard this month and next, and have december just be money for whatever else but not gifts lol. My husband has a job, I need to find one.

So far this year, I am actually behind on Christmas shopping compared to where I usually am. I do not have even one gift bought yet. I am not sure how our budget will be as we get closer to Christmas, but I do know that we will somehow manage to give the kids a nice Christmas. Somehow, things always seem to work out for the best.

I like to have things semi planned, but Christmas is one thing that is hard to plan out. It is great to know that you will somehow manage to work things out, with mylot you can earn a few more bucks to go towards Christmas. Happy Christmas shopping, etc.

I would say that I will have about the same or a little more to spend this year than I did last year. Most of the money I spend goes to buying gifts for my two daughters and my niece. I try and buy all the adults a little something but for the most part in my family we all worry about the kids before we do the adults.

Growing up it seemed like everyone gave gifts, and not just to the children. Now though it seems that the economy is so bad, that the first people to buy for are the kids, and well it should be! I hope you have fun picking out gifts for the children of your family! Have a happy holiday season as well! It's already a bit chilly at night and in the morning here! Maybe an early winter!

I purchase all my gifts for others at tag sales, auctions, and book sales throughout the year, never spending more than a few dollars for a gift. I'm really put off with the commercial side of Christmas, and I refuse to go into debt over a holiday.

The commercial side of Christmas is bad. It makes people want things they don't need... Shopping at hand me down stores, etc is a good way to save money, and I am sure it is a lot easier to shop at those places then anywhere else during the holiday season.

Christmass for me as an unemployed individual is not just spending much money to buy gifts. The important thing which I can spend is not money but TIME. TIME to be with our families and loveones. With this Global crisis that our world is facing we must be very smart in saving our money because we don't know what the future will hold.

Often we forget the value of christmas, but remember the value of spending. Christmas is not just an materialistic holiday like so many claim, but a time for love and companionship, for friendship and happiness... for joy, for peace. I hope that you and your family have a great time at christmas. I don't have a job yet either, but my husband does. The global crisis is bad, and no we don't know what may come!

I spent more this Christmas because of the presence of balikbayan visitors. They came here to celebrate Christmas so there were more gifts to buy. BUt the the best essence of Christmas is togetherness and celebrating the occasion with my loved ones who are always away from me.This Christmas I will spend less because of the financial misery affecting the world as a whole.

I am a bit confused, the first and last sentences contradict each other. Do you mean to say that you got more because of the presence of Balkbayan visitors, but that you spent less because of the financial crisis? Yes the world is financially drained! Christmas is such a great time of year!

I actually can spend a lot more than year then I could last year. Last year I was still a college student and my only sources of income were online earnings as well as a small tutoring gig on the side that paid me about $20 a week for two hours of work. It's not like I was getting rich or anything but I wasn't so poor either. I just had to be really, really wise about how I spent my money. This year, I'm actually employed at a full time job where I make an OK living on. I'm definitely not poor and I'm not rolling in the dough either I'm just trying to save as much as I can. I like knowing that I have all of this extra money on hand. I don't want to go out and completely blow my paychecks on stuff I just do not need at the moment. I take any measures I can to make sure that I'm saving as much money as I can when I make my purchases. So this year, I will be able to buy more but it's not like I'm planning to buy outrageous gifts this year. I plan to make maybe one or two high priced purchases but nothing else. I'm not planning on spending more than a few hundred on gifts even though I know I won't be spending that much to begin with.

It sounds like you have a good grasp on your money and what you feel you should or shouldn't spend. That is good, that means your a wise shopper, lol and wise with your money. A few 100 sounds like a realistic plan, and that it being the most you'll spend is good too. Here's to hoping you'll surprise yourself by how litlte you spend but how much you buy for loved ones!

I do earn the same amount of money compared to the last year, but this year I spend less because my husband works in a different country. So, I don't have to pay for the family related things which we used to spend together. Anyway, now I am having a small amount of money in my account from mylot. I am working on it to collect all the money from mylot to be used to buy Christmas gifts for my family.

i don't really spent too much on gifts every chirstmas, cause what i do is that i always prepare a list first, a gift list, i seperate all those people whom i should give gifts in categories, close family, distant relatives, friends, office mates, and then from there i set a budget how much i would spend for each of them, for those in groups like officemates and my niece and nephews i try to buy items that are unisex and in bulk so i don't need to choose so many for each of them and it also avoid being envy with what i gave the other. then you can also do some innovation for your christmas decorations at home, last time i did a DIY christmas decors using papers and boards, there is a lot of craft in the internet it is cheap, simple but nice. I hope i helps you in some ways. Happy Holidays!!!

Preparing a list is a very sensible Idea. It helps to figure out what everyone wants / needs / you think they'd like, and also helps with keeping up with the finances. I don't have a job, but my husband does. Either way, we'll be buying for family only, and a close friend. We're not sure how much money we'll have to spend this year, it depends on his check and what I make from mylot. Giving gifts that are made are a nice idea. Making your own decorations are nice as well. My husband's family has a tradition of getting an ornament every Christmas for the Christmas tree, I think it's a nice tradition. I appreciate your advices, and they were very helpful. I hope you have fun shopping for friends, family and colleagues!

Last year was a bad year for me I was hardly able to buy anyone gifts because of the financial situation I was in. This year I am not much better off financial, but it will be a better Christmas since I have been saving and buying gifts all year. I decided after Christmas last year I wasn't going to let that happen again and the only way to do it was to begin planning and saving at that time

I think my family has always started to buy gifts before the chirstmas season began, and even after christmas. With the financial situation the way it is, it's almost a must. I am glad you were able to buy gifts all this year, so you'll be ready for Christmas in a few months. Hope you have a merry christmas.
