Hello Yuga. How are you ? I try not to spend more than my earning. Some times, with unexpected expense, it might exceed. But, otherwise , I keep the expenditure below earning. I keep a record of my daily expenses and keep a watch on that. You are doing very well too, spending wisely. That is very important and necessary for short and long term.

well, firstly I would like to say, without money, I can live, but only for a short time, I can live through friends' help, but they won't help me for a while life of course, Luckily I earn more than most of my friends, I can live on my own.
And about your question, yes ocassionaly, I sometimes would spend more than what I earn, because some unexpected would happened, like I happen to see something I really like and eager to buy, or my friends getting married, I will have to handle the "red bag", means putting money in and red bag and give it to the new married people... girls around me are all marriage-age, so I will have to prepare for this...

I do not spend more on what I am earning right now. Usually, I spend a little for some things and I seldom buy clothes and shoes for myself. I think more of my future and I try to save money in my bank as much as possible. I do not want to depend on my family so I do my best. I travel abroad for vacation sometimes but I still make it sure that I have savings in the bank. I am more to sightseeing during my travels and not much shopping though I buy some souvenirs only.

What u have said is definitely true, but the thing we know is that it's easier said than done, at least for me. i try o hard to save, but in the end, i blow it all up saying "money is meant to be spent", just to console myself.. isnt that something?

Hi Yugasini. I got rid of all my credit card debt and now spend only what I can afford. I also put small amounts into savings whenever I get the chance. Cutting back on all but necessary expenses has helped a lot.
So now, I spend less than what I earn! Yayyy!

yes, at times. i consume what i earn for a month sometimes. there are exigencies that i need to attend to and priorities which need first-hand attention. it is not easy to be both father and mother to 3 children. but i still consider myself lucky because we are not asking help from anyone nor with unbearable debts.

Hi yugasini, my opinions here are based on my experience. If u have a lot of money in liquid form, u will have a lot lot of friends and relatives asking u for it! They will have a lot of comments on how u r spending! So rule number one, if u want to leave something for ur children, have it in real estate, that way u have to pay on mortgage, and cant really spare, and people cant really complain. Rule two, if u have some to spare, which u must occassionally, after all we all live only once, u should not flaunt it. Be as discreet as u can get away with. People shouldnt get a whiff of how u r enjoying, or what u have bought for urself.

I forgot to add - if u dont spend on urself something - u will be trying to control a younger person spending on some enjoyment at a future date considering it as waste! And that will start some resentment. My way of thinking, enjoy while u can, while ur bones let u climb those flights, so that when others are enjoying the monies u earned for them, u r not resenting it. Of course, as u pointed out, do it in moderation, with consideration for ur old age and children's future. There is a line between being a miser, and being normal. :) I believe if u r not happy, u cant really make another person happy, because u dont know what it is in the first place. So know what it is as well. :) Here is to wishing u happiness, and comfortable old age. :)
