How do you feel like like being the "handywoman" of the house?

The advent of the "do it yourself" gadgets, make couples start doing things on their own like minor fixes in the house rather than hire a tradesman to do them. Most wives are at home most of the times and they are the first ones to notice what is wrong that needs fixing. If the husband is too busy, many mothers end up doing the repairs themselves.
Things like thightening loose screws, fixing loose taps among others are jobs that many women are doing. Why call for the services of a tradesman when many things can be done ourselves.
As a woman, have you tried fixing broken things at home?
As a hubby, what a wonderful feeling it is to have a handywoman wife, isn't it?

Living today definitely involves that role of women in the society, not unlike the old days were women are ignored. When I arrived home last night, i found that she had just fixed our broken computer. I don't know how see do it but I'm sure I fell proud of that she's accomplished.

My husband was a general contractor for over 30 years so he continues to maintain the house...and the homes of family and friends...which is something he enjoys. Until last year I worked full time so I wasn't home to notice when something needed to be repaired and I wouldn't do it myself even if I did. My husband would be highly insulted if I did.

same here friend. I am a contractor myself and I enjoy fixing things, it has gone to the point of becoming an obsession on my part. I just love it. There are times I am out of the house and my wife tries to do things herself and I don't mind. They are minor things anyway. There was a time when she made the problem worse and I don't blame her. She wanted to experiment and have some fun. We both ended up laughing.
Thanks.
