When 6 yrs ago i wasnt so concerned abt myself when i get sick, simply bcos i feel im still young and doesnt know abt sickness or illness.then 2 yrs ago was hospitalized bcos of kidney infection.I didnt know the symptoms, thot was just having backpain.I dont drink much water,i dont like it bcos i like sweet taste so i go for coke,or juice.I sometimes dont drink water for day,if i drink maybe only a glass of it.so then the result is kidney, and paid a lot for hospitalization and medicines.Doctors advice keep away from coke, and drink plenty of water. Now that i have finished my caregiver course,i already have known some causes of major illness.Like few months ago, felt nausea, thirsty, pruritus(itchiness) and polyuria(frequent urination)i thot it was just bcos of my kidney,a friend told me to check my blood sugar level, but i just shrugged off my shoulder bcos DIABETIS is not in our family history, and another thing its just an additional budget considering my situation, but then itchiness worsen so had to squeeze it in my budget and have my blood sugar checked and result is its high..eventually had my diet control and lesws sugar in all the food i take especially rice..now my itching has gone and my sugar level back to normal,if ihadnt it would lead to more kidney problems and then it will damage my lungs and other organs..OMG!my kids are still young and i am a single mother, what will happen to them???if i would leave them early??? Now my question is....ARE U THE KIND WHO ALSO TAKE FOR GRANTED HEALTH?ISNT IT HEALTH IS WEALTH?Thank you guys for your reply.....

i agree with you on this one. msot people just take it for granted until it's too late. although there was a time when i was guilty of this too and i end getting a bad cold. so, when ever i get a feel strange that am gonna get sick, i would simply buy medications to have myself ready

My parents are the types who don't go to the doctor unless something is seriously wrong. My dad always thought it was a waste of money to go see a doctor if you were perfectly healthy (even if though they had insurance!). The problem is, these days there are many illnesses that have no symptoms . . . and my opinion is it is better to have things checked out earlier than later! Unlike my parents, I make sure I get myself checked out yearly - minimally! My mother had a condition one year. Instead of going to the doctor's, she self did self diagnosing and medicating - and claimed she was getting better - when in fact she was getting worse. This went on for a year. She ultimately had to go to the hospital to have surgery! Things could have been worse - I think she learned a big lesson that year or at least I hope. I had some minor conditions in my 20's . . . and because of it, I became an athlete and became very self aware of my health. I am lucky I learned to stay healthy since then. Even so, I am now pregnant with a second child, and I have been diagnosed gestational diabetes. It's a condition that will go away, but I do have to be careful with what I eat - and the doctors monitor me like a hawk. But because I do what I'm supposed to do, I am on top of the condition - and all is going well so far with me and the baby. Yes, health is wealth - that's for sure! I know two people who passed away in the past couple months (fairly young too) . . . their health failed on them beyond their control, unfortunately. We should feel very fortunate to be as healthy as we are . . . let's all take care!
