Who Brings A Gun To A Child's Birthday Party?

I was babysitting my two year old cousin the other day and she kept saying that someone pulled a gun on her. It got me kind of worried because she spends a lot of time with my cousin's wife's family and to be honest, they're a rowdy bunch of people. I'm not trying to judge them or put them down, but I don't think any of them are mentally or emotionally stable. So when my cousin came to pick her up, I asked him about it. He said that his wife had taken her to a birthday party for one of her relatives. It was supposed to have been a child's party, but two guys got into an argument and one of them pulled a gun out. My cousin's wife was able to get my little cousin and some more children out of the party before any shots were fired. What kind of person would have a gun at a little kid's birthday party? Why were two grown men even there if they didn't have children at the party?
