Yeah I know how a hurricane or typhoons here in Asia are formed. The simple explanation is.... warm air collides with cold air they spin in a counter clockwise direction until a typhoon starts.
But Because just recently typhoons behaviors are extra unusual. Example, is "ondoy" who struck just recently in the Philippines. It brought unusual rainfall that supposedly 1 month rainfall equivalent are poured within 24 hours only!!!
And hurricane Katrina no one on earth don't know how bad are the effects of it! One website said that "The effects of Hurricane Katrina were shattering and long lasting!"
My question is...Are Hurricane or Typhoons Nowadays Acts of God? or only natural phenomenon? Please let me know what is your view.

this is not just a natural phenomena. but it is the the reaction of nature to the cruelties done by human kind to the nature. The nature is responding in a very simple manner by just a shake. but the whole human world is hard hitted by this typhons . so i think it is just the reaction to our doings.

This is not an act of God, but a natural phenomenon. Ever since the earth is created and human violating the commandments of God. He said that in our sin we are suffer more difficulties and at the end of this earth he prophesied that this is a day of wrath...

no i don't think so.it's just one way of reminding us that we are already abusing our habitat.the best niche that we can play is to lessen the damage that has been done to our place. based on science, the world has it's best defense, that's cleaning itself through calamities.it's like detoxifying itself.the worst part is that we are here and are the ones being affected.

What ever happens in this world is by the will of God. All humans together cannot run this nature. It is in the hands of God . He gives the Order and things happen. One of the reason for these floods or earthquakes are the bad deeds of people in the world. he has the ultimate power to run Universe.
Hope i answer your question.

I don't believe in God so I don't think the hurrincanes and typhoons are acts of God. It's true that recently hurricanes and typhoons caused great damage and loss of life. I don't think it's unusual. Firstly, what we know from news are always that hurricanes and typhoons hit populous places. If they hit remote areas where few people live, I guess the loss would be much less and the media would have no interest to report them.

Sorry if if I believe in God. But I respect you opinion that you don't believe God. Yeah that is true that typhoons will damage less if it only hits on remote areas. But are you not bothered why this world is so difficult to live nowadays? I mean where this world is heading? To its destruction? or Do we have hope?

hello jlumakang,
no i think not. those hurricanes and typhoons are no acts of God, It's a natural phenomenon. Because people nowadays are sinners and over faithful, some may say those words that those things happened are acts of God. But really, this is life, this is reality and reality is more visible than anything else.

the typhoon ondoy didn't seem to be that a very strong storm. it just looks like an ordinary rainy day to me but was surprised on how much water it released into the land and water. i never thought that it brought so much water to us. and that was why we get so much flood that cause a catastrophe. even metro manila which didn't experience a flood as high as 20 feet experienced it now.

you have explained clearly the reasons of how a hurricane or typhoon is formed. its a natural act. If nature is god, then its the act of god. Which god? your faith's god or your enemy faith's god? these are stupid questions. it can happen anywhere. god is not in the business of killing people. if then what is the difference between him and devil?
God is not bothered about what happens with this world. He just lets things happen. He does not interfere with anything to save a few and punish others as some religions propagate to gain numbers.

I do think so but nowadays science have always be the answered to our community. Sometime we should see back what have we done in the past to our world and community.
If science always told us that every thing have its own reasons and consequences.
So, this natural phenomenon too have its own reasons why its happens.

Maybe I can say yes, because if we refer it to the bible every phenomenon happening in the world is created by God. For example the story of Noah written in genesis that God created flood to kill those bad people. And that story is a proof that God created those disastrous event causes of those very bad person living on that [particular area. And also he use the nature as the instrument because people are abusing it.

Hi j
I think typhoons and huricanes can be considered as natural phenomenon bu God has
the power to stop or change it's direction. If we're going to analyze this thses
things are caused by glodal warming and we are the one who are responsible about
global warming. God let this things to happen because He wants to teach us a
lesson that we should take care of our invironment and he also wants to teach us
trust in him and follow his commanments.
