life after typhoon

October 3, 2009 10:57am CST
We recently had a typhoon and it flooded not only in the provinces affected but also mostly in the metropolis. It was so devastating that water went up too soon as high as to a person's waistline up to 10 ft or more in height Some were already at the 2nd floor of their homes. Those with no 2nd level were already on the roof. It was so heartbreaking to see these places destroyed and up to now still underwater. Our country was in the news worldwide because it resulted to about 200 plus dead and hundred thousands of citizens homeless. I was busy the whole week packing old clothes and some canned goods for donation. I was so happy to hear even other countries who have made great effort to help my country by sending donations to our government and other charitable institutions. Have you heard about this news? Surely, each and everyone of us who may come to this situation will help our neighbors and countrymen because we only have ourselves to help each other. I wish i can do more to my neighbors. Although the there is another typhoon, it did not hit the metropolis. Our people is prayerful and since we have not recovered from the former typhoon, we have prayed so hard as one to be spared from another disaster. To those who have prayed with us and helped us one way or the other, we thank you so much.

I heard that there was going to be another typhoon in the Philippines, but I did not hear if it had hit the country yet. Is this where you are referring, or are you referring to another country that was hit by the same typhoon? I guess it hit more than one of the countries in that area. I am glad to hear that the second one did not hit you. I checked your profile, but there was not country specified as to where you are from. Please let us know if you are referring to the Philippines, or to a different country that has been hit by the typhoons as well. I will be thinking of you, and of other people. I do know some people in the Philippines, and have a long time friend who owns a place in Angeles City. I haven't heard from him yet, but did get a message last weekend that he was ok. Best wishes to you and your neighbors!

I think it takes longer before they can recover and now that Christmas is approaching I think there Christmas is not happy than before because of their destroyed homes, propertiesa and lose loved ones. I think we can surpass all of it if we help one another. I heard it on the news this morning that there's another typhoon again after Pepeng. We are thankful that Pepeng change it's direction and now there's another typhoon again.

Thanks for your comments. Yes my country is Philippines. THe metropolis was spared of the next typhoon but the northern part was hit. Again, there was landslide and destruction of houses and rice fields. Prayers will be a great help. Thanks for your concern.

It is so sad to note that many people were affected by calamities, homeless, lost of their loved ones, vulnerable to diseases and problems ahead of them. We should blame ourselves for not taking care of our surroundings especially our trashes/garbages. If only the people followed the segregation process of our trashes and did not throw any garbages in the canals, maybe the flood problem has not worsened. For now, we should try to think why GOD has permitted this to happen because many of us has forgotten that there is GOD. We only remember GOD when we are down or have problem that we cannot solve. Perhaps this is GOD's way to call our attention so that we will search for HIM and eventually obey GOD.

I agree with you with regards to the garbage. After the flood, we saw all the garbage hanging in all fences of the streets. Its just like it went back to us. I hope we all realized that nature is angry at us because we have abused them of the garbage we have been throwing.
