What are you doing to try to stay well? I went to Walmart today to but the week's supplies and I was paying special attention to staying safe. I didn't wear a mask but I did clean my hands and the handle on the cart I used. Then before I got in my car I cleaned my hands again. But one cannot help but be concerned. I think if I had heard one cough I would have left the store. We have schools closing already and the school year just started a month ago.

I am not any more cautious than I have ever been, but I have always been a hand washer.I insist on those in my care washing hands frequently, I carry hand sanitizer in the work vehicle. I may go get some Lysol spray at work for the vehicle as well. I bought the sanitizer. I worry as much or more about intestinal viruses than I do about the flu.I think one of my clients possibly had H1N1 last spring, but she was not tested for the flu at all.

When I worked I always used the Lysol spray at work, computer key boards, phones, door handles and in the case of the bank we sprayed the teller stations and the lobby pens and stations. I did manage to continually have less lost days for my entire branches by following these precautions each year during flu seasons.

I do about the same things as you. I also wash my hands or use hand sanitizer many times each day. I was shocked to hear that, if we want soap in the ladies' room at work, we have to bring it in! Schools are such easy places to get sick, and we're constantly reminded that hand washing is so important, but they won't provide soap!

If your schools budgets are as stressed as ours are I can understand. Best to bring your own anyway then you know exactly what your are washing with. Blessings

A bunch of us have decided to bring in those huge bottles of antibacterial liquid soap and keep a dispenser one woman brought in full. Budget considerations are very real, but hand washing is essential in a building with more than 3,000 kids and almost 300 adults! My classroom sounds like a symphony of coughs, sneezes and sniffles lately, and there have been several cases of both the seasonal and the H2N1 flu!

Of course we are all going to die at sometime, I think the trick is to fight this as long as possible and to say as well as you can be. Thanks

I admit that I'm bad at this and I really should be more careful as my immune system is perpetually in the toilet. I'm kind of concerned about this swine flu thing. From what I hear, it's pretty nasty once you get it. But that hasn't changed my hygienic routine--or lack thereof. I almost never wash my hands unless I can see mud or grime or them. Part of this is laziness and part of this is that soap dispensers are always made of plastic--one of my allergies.

You can overcome this by carrying hand sanitizer in a glass bottle. It's worth changing old habits to stay safe. Good Luck

Hi savypat, I think that we should all be careful but it's one thing to take care of our health, and another to panic. I'm just hoping that won't happen. The media really played up the swine flu last Spring, so much so that many people were really scared. I think that we should just take the necessary precausions and carry on with our life. If someone comes down with a cold, I think they should stay at home until it's better, and I also feel that everyone should be extra careful about washing their hands and such things but let's not panic. Blessings.

Yes good sense is called for not panic, but it is on our minds this year. And that is due to the Media if this makes more people careful that is most likely a good thing.

I take all my vitamins everyday and wash my hand alot. I try to stay away from people who do not know how to cover they mouth when they cough or do not use a kleenix or handerchief or maybe their own arm to sneeze into.

To make you clean is the best way to stay well. I don't find any reason to wear musk. To wear musk is also awesome.

In my opinion while it is certainly sensible to take care not to attract too many germs, one can only do one’s best because, at the end of the day if one is meant to get sick, one will. In Australia they made the swine flu vaccine available from last Monday and to be honest I am no so sure whether it is the safest thing to do to avoid getting sick because my girl had a bad reaction to an ordinary flu shot some time ago and it has put me off attempting it again. I take care to stay well but I try not to get too paranoid as that is not healthy either.

Each one of us has to make the best we can of this situation and sometimes it's very hard to know what to do. I try to weight things pro and con and then choose and live with it. Blessings

Are you talking about swine flu? It is not such a big thing in England anymore it is supposed to be no worse than normal flu.It is a sad fact that about 16,000 people die from normal flu in England every winter.I do carry tissues to open public toilet doors and wash my hands as normal,I don't touch door handles using my knuckles or elbow or shoulder this is not always possible. We all avoid packed shops but my son has to go to school and do year 12 to get his Alevels which he will need to go to university.I am sorry to hear the schools are shutting already ,they say the only reason the schools will shut here will be if the teachers are not well enough to go.We are all holding our breath and hoping for the best. All the surgeries have flu jabs in stock. We have been told to stay away from work ect and stay indoors getting a flu buddy to get what we need at the shops.Apart from washing sheets and towels at 60 degrees and washing our bodies and hands I cannot see what else we can do.Oh and we have been eating a lot more fruit and veg plus taking a yoghurt drink every day.Keep in touch and let me know how things are going over there.Take care sue.

Things are not terrible here, but since so many people travel the world these days I think it will be very unusual that this flu doesn't make a showing in all countries. We are taking Vit C and B complex to help our immune systems fight.

I am trying to stay away from people that are ill. I am also trying to use hand sanitizer a little more than I usually did. My girls are in school and there have been a few closings here too. I preach to them hand washing and sanitizer during this time. If they get sick..there is no way to keep myself from getting that wau to except for a little luck.

If they get sick you might want to use a mask, after all you have to stay well to take care of them. I have planned to do this in my family. Blessings.

I try to keep myself warm and away from people who have colds as i hate being ill as the children always pick up the bugs and tend to have time off school and if that is not bad enough i tend to get all the germs back from them.I try no to take medicine as sometimes that can cause as many problems.

When you have school children living with you it's very hard to stay well, make sure you are all eating well and pay attention to anyone who feels unwell. Blessings

Here the schools have an extended vacation. We've been advised to wash our hands as they say the spread of swine flu will be reduced.I was fine till i accompanied my dad to the hospital where i saw the nurses wearing masks and it made me wary. The other day i had to pay my cable bill. While returning i saw a policeman on the road wearing a mask this made me more cautious and i immediately wound the window of the car and started the air conditioner though i'm not sure whether it'll really help.

A college closed in our area...1000 with the H1N1 flu! Early, too. I got my reg. flu shot and will get the other when it's available. I take extra supplements, such as vitamin, and go heavy on the foods that naturally boost the immune system. Like you, I carry sanitizing wipes for when I shop, and always practice the good hand washing techniques. I think it helps NOT to eat out. You don't know if the person handling your food has washed their hands or rubbed their nose or eyes even when wearing gloves! Stay well. Karen
