I've tried it but nobody in my family is interested to help
I know an elderly relative who knows more about those who deceased and their children
but she is not pleasant to talk with, a know-it-all so to speak and temperamental
so I guess I'll skip family tree

jugsjugs hi from hatley. I spend years making my family'tree with help from relatives and a lot of help from Ancestors.com. I do not have the other info I wanted to give you handy but let me look it up and add a comment to my response here. I do know these two places on the internet that you can use free by plugging in the names of people you want to find the relatives of. back in a minute.

I have started a family tree last year. I have input my family and relatives both from my mother and father's side but its not yet totally complete. I wish I could add more so that in the future years, my descendants would able to know where did he/she come from and who were his/her ancestors. I think its cool to do something like that but its not easy as you think. I just hope that the members family profile can also be accessed or be found in some social networking sites like Facebook in order to find relatives in distant places and get reconnected again. I have made a family tree profile in http://www.myheritage.com/

Yes, I have. I just never finished it! (Like that's even a possibility! LOL) I actually have information from my dad's side that dates back to the 1500's. Most of it came from a cousin of my father.
I hardly have any info on my mom's side though. It only dates back to my grandparents. However, apparently my late grandmother left some information. I'm just waiting to get it.
I use tribalpages.com. I like that it has a connection page that automatically matches other family trees to your own. And best of all, it is free!
Ancestry.com is supposed to be good source of information. The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints is another. It doesn't hurt to ask family members either. If I hadn't asked my dad I would have never know there was so much information on his side of the family.
I wish your friend luck!
Happy mylotting!

I have not try writing my family tree, I couldn't recall or remember any relatives in the past, there's no record in our family with names and their whereabouts. But I am writing a family tree book for European Royals write now because I am preparing a book about their enchanting lives, it's quite very interesting to write a family tree actually.

I did once when my dad is around.. and we did trace up to the 5th generation of my family root. I understand from my uncle that we had got a family book back in our 'home' in China, which will put in all the names of the family members.
I have yet to meet those grand uncles or even cousin that do not lived in the same country with me, however my uncle do travel back to China often to pay them a visit.

Hello jj. I have not done with a family tree, but it seems that it is more popular in the country rather than in the city. I think that it is a good idea to build a family tree so that every family member in the family is known.

I never have but my dad and his brothers started a family tree years! Over the years my dad has found relatives my family did not know about! Today my dad doesn't keep up with it as he used to. My younger brother does that on our dads side and my older brother does that on our mom's family. More people should do this! It is very a great way to find out where you come from and your heritage! I know I'm mostly German and a little Polish! I'm very happy my family did this and still does!
