I think that making an effort to think positively can definitely help train your brain not to think negatively in the future. A lot of our thoughts are chemical and relate to what is going on in our body. But, humans have a unique ability to control their bodies and minds. So, we can really train our brain not to think negatively. And, when you don't think negatively so much, positive things seem to come out of you.

Yes it does. Let's approach that question from a different angle: Can you actually think of something negative and achieve something positive? It is not possible. If you are thinking of robbing a bank to earn some money, that is a negative thought that will only give you negative consequences.
However, if you are thinking of getting a job instead, that would carry more positive rewards including some material payoffs. You cannot just think of something negative, no matter what it is, and expect something good to come from it. The very act of thinking negatively immediately affects your ability to achieve something positive by planting a seed of doubt about your abilities. You wouldn't feel empowered then to get what you seek.
Our thoughts dictate every waking moments of our lives and the quality of those thoughts also dictate the intentions we have. Those intentions then tun into actions. It follows that if you have negative thoughts of what you CAN'T do or what you WON'T get, you will then have negative intentions about them and your actions will match those thoughts because you will feel low in confidence, totally inadequate, inferior to others and lacking in the ability to make things happen.
However, the main reason why it is very difficult to think negatively and achieve positive results is because positive thinking influences our self-belief. When we think in terms of what we CAN do and achieve, we reinforce our self-belief of our natural power and that self-belief is responsible for our confidence and self-esteem. Without those two attributes we would not achieve anything in life and would always doubt our capacity to perform or deliver. So positive thinking is not only essential to achieve goals, but getting anything we want from life is actually impossible without it.
