Do clean fingernails and toenails measure one's hygiene?

I have always been fascinated by people who have clean nails, both the fingernails and toenails. I love looking at clean nails since I find it neat and attractive to look at. I also like those who have nail polish, even the funky colored ones, but nothing beats going natural :)
My parents and a teacher of mine once told me that clean nails do measure a person's cleanliness.
Do you agree with this? :)

I agree to some extent as it shows you wash your hands and feet. Also when you wash your hair or have a bath the nails get cleaned so it does show hygiene. However, some people's jobs make their nails look dirty, even if they do wash etc so I try not to judge too harshly!

Of course! It would totally be understandable if that person was a mechanic, a technician, etc. But if a person looks really good and his/her nails aren't clean, it leaves a lot to the imagination. :D

hi, aix
I think so. There may be times that fingernails and toenails are unclean, but, most of the time, neat people have clean nails.
As for me, I like my toenails painted and my fingernails short, clean and without nail polish. I like cleaning the bathroom and I have to do laundry on weekends so color on my fingernails would just be chipped if I paint it. If I fancy color on my nails, I have to put it on Monday so that I have at least three days before removing it.
Cheers!

I disagree, mainly because I am an example of how this doesn't make sense. My toenails are pretty clean, but my fingernails.. are just bad. I am an outdoorsy type person for the most part, and I never get them done or manicured or anything like that. My nails just get.. dirty! I usually pay attention to details, like with my hair and makeup, but with my nails it's just another story.

Me too! My toenails are clean, but my fingernails are dirty now :D We were packing up yesterday, and my nails were ravaged by all the clothes that we had to put into sacks and boxes.
I asked around, and I realized that the toenails are the ones that are "judged" more. Well, at least, that's what my teacher says...

Yeah, it can also someone says agree and some people who disagree..because I think it measures the cleanliness of a person not only clean your nails, someone could have such long nails look dirty but but the body looks clean and fresh. I myself have long nails, and it can make the character of a person.
Keep chears dudee.. ;))

Clean nails are very important. They are definitely part of man's hygiene. Nails are carriers of germs as well, if a person doen't keep it clean, then he/she is introducing microorganisms to the body.

I agree that clean nails can define a person's hygiene. If you're able to take time cleaning the smallest detail, then it will mean that you are also have a good habit of maintaining a clean good hygiene. Personally, I like people who have clean fingernails and toenails. I am often turned off with people who does not take care of their nails.

Incidentally, I just had may toenails done. Just the toenails, I cut my own fingernails. I don't usually have it pedicured but lately I found difficulty bending down to be able to cut them properly so I had it serviced.
Simple things mean a lot and this applies to doing ones nails. They are indicative of a person's personal hygiene. It doesn't mean though that people with long nails are not higiene concious. It's a matter of preference.
cheers!

Yep, I think clean nails really tells something about the hygiene of a person.. When I met someone, I usually look at the nails in their hands, if it's manicured and well taken care of, then I see that person as very hygienic,... When I see the toenails, I that weighs more, cause not a lot of people give attention to their toenails cause it's not usually seen.. so when I see that the person has clean toenails, then I am sure that the person is really clean.. hehehe.

yes, i agree. it has always been my way to gauge someone's good grooming and cleanliness. i usually look at the fingernails first and i easily notice if these are dirty. i am not so much into whether these are polished with nail color, it is simply enough that they are not too long and clean.

I agree to that. Me too, I am always fascinated with those people who manage to have clean nails. I do adore people with clean toe nails. lol =) It's kinda weird but I always look at peoples feet first. Sometimes I think of myself as the weirdest person because I'd rather have someone with a clean toenails.
