I am big user of computer and do download lot of stuff from internet. I take all backups of my collections into CD/DVD disks. And I can say I do burn around 2 cd/dvd daily.
How about you? How frequently do you burn CD/DVD. Do you think is it correct way of taking backup or do you suggest any new way of taking backups.

Well, personally for me I do not Burn enough of them because everytime I have computer issues to where I end up loosing stuff I really wish I would have thought of storing more stuff for sure. The main issue for me though is not sure how to burn anything even though I have a Computer that is capable of being able to do it all as well.

I haven't burned a CD or DVD in months.
There used to be a time where I'd burn several CDs a week... small hard drives, and CDs weren't exactly huge, and I was downloading a lot of trash (This is stuff that now went all to the garbage, by the way) so I either deleted it or burned it.
Chose the later, ended up with a pile of CDs.
These days with roughly 500GB storage I can download things, see what matters or not and then in most cases just delete it. No need to burn anything for a good while now.
But, as to being a "correct way" to do a backup, I personally haven't settled in a method and stuck to it.
I mean, hard disks have to be tended or they'll lose data. DVDs should be a good brand and stored properly or they'll get damaged due to environment (I lost some this way), flash drives like those pens and so, well, I only feel so confident about them since they seem to get corrupted half easily.
You'll probably want to try and cover yourself with DVDs and flash drives, but of course, this is only for important stuff and not the most mundane things because flash drives aren't that cheap.

i burn a dvd/cd every three/four days, but not for backup, i meke them for music for my car, or a movie, or a game. For backup i use external HD so i can add or delete something from it every time that i want and his capacity is bigger than a simple DVD, and when are many GB of data to save, like 500GB it takes lesser space than DVD disks.

No way. I use cd/dvd only if I'm about to share something with my friends, when those files can not be sent via internet. As for backup purposes, my mobile disk(s) come(s) to the rescue as usual.
Having said that, I have already 2 USB mobile disks.
