Falling Short of Cash !!!!

It has been raining cats and dogs since last night, (Dogs and cows would be a more apt description, dear Cynthiann) and this particular rainy day reminded me of an instance happened a couple of years back. It was a rainy holiday, and I met with this best friend of mine. We went for a long drive, enjoying the greenery spilled everywhere around. I n my city if it rains the temperature takes a sharp dip and a causes refreshing change. We had captured almost every moment taking snapshots. While coming back from the expedition we decided to halt at a place nearby our locality for lunch. We ordered quite ravenously and soon our table was full of dishes with loads of chicken and lobsters, rotis, rice, dal, glassful of beer. Now came the HORROR! The bill was piteously exceeding then what we had in our pockets. We spent a good dealof money on the road for Toll taxes, and snacks. And after having the Super delicious meal we were falling short of Cash. Unfortunately we both weren't even carrying our cards that day. What could a saint like us do?? My friend went back home to put up for the deficit, it was embarrassing. Once we came out of the restaurant we couldn't stop giggling. Has it ever happened to you? Have you ever fallen short of cash in dire situations? How did you manage to come up with it? Do share, and pour in your heart's content. Bodhi

hello bodhisatya, your experience is really interesting, but it happends sometimes. I know the feeling of sitting in one place to wait another person to come is really not comfortable, it is just like you are in danger and waiting for other's to rescure you. But I have to say that you are lucky that you have 2 persons there, and the issue finally tackled. I had one time go to have dinner alone, and was carelessly eat more than what I can afford, and when I find that I am short of cash, I was so embarassment, I didn't even bough my mobilephone to help me solve problem. But luckily, the manager of that cafteen was so kind, and allow me to give them the money the next time I pass by their cafteen. When I went out of that cafteen, the first thing is go home, take money, go to the cafeteen and finally pay for the bill... it was embarassment, specially when someone else looking at you, knowing that you don't have enough money to pay for the dinner.

Thats quite a bit of a situation! You were alone and fell short of cash. The manager must be a very gentleman that he allowed you to go. Here in my country people won't trust you that way. i never let then know that we were short of cash. we two just came to know that we are gonna fall short, so he just got up and went away. There was nothing suspicious and I acted my best to be normal. I hope that we both won't ever fall in a situation like this.

i like ur writing. u should write ur own novel. ur post sounds entertaining. and cynthiann looks like a cool name. i always know how much money i have with me before i order anything. if i dont have much with me, i will either not order anything or order something small. or, sometimes i end up using my debit card.

Thank you so much for your encouraging words. Maybe someday I will write something good. Cynthiann is my dearest friend here ay Mylot. She once used this phrase "Cows & Horses" instead of the popular Cats and Dogs. I found it so numerous and decided with due permission of hers that i shall use it somewhere. And I did Are you into writing too? I never found myself in that kind of situation except the one mentioned, maybe that day we were too excited and engrossed appreciating the nature. Thanks again!

Now that was embarrassing and of course when we are embarrassed then many people just laugh to relieve the tension. No, I have been in may embarrassing situations but not the same as yours . I usually carry cards with me as well as cash so this has not happened to me - YET di dyou have to stay in the restaurant whilst your friend went back for the money?

Oh! Yes! Certainly I had to wait back at the restaurant counting every seconds till he returned.I was subject of some real gruesome stares from the waiters'. To ease the tension a bit I ordered a soda. Boy! They were reluctant to hand over the drink to me at that moment. LoL

We have this notion very popular here too. To wash dishes if we don't have the money to pay for the bill. Thankfully I never had been through that till now, it would be so embarrassing then. He was kind enough to volunteer to go back home and fetch the money. Otherwise heaps of dishes were waiting for me.

My husband like to assume that his wallet always in his trousers when he goes out. One day he went to KFC with my son. After ordered the food only he realised the wallet was not with him. He called me at home. I have to drive all the way to KFC to pay for the bill This is not his first time. It happened again, he left my son there to eat and come home to take the money

Personally I think almost every individual has run into this situation a time or two somewhere and it can actually be quite embarrasing. My husband recently went out to a place to eat and only had our Debit Cards with us, and when we went to pay we found out they only take Cash or checks. So they trusted us enough to leave our phone number with them while my husband found a Cash machine somewhere and got some Cash. We were wondering what they would have done if we would have been Broke and was only planning on using our Credit Card. Glad to see you had someone who could help you out, as that would have been a not so good of situation otherwise. Taught you a lesson I am sure.
